UTSA Welcomes Famous Local Restaurant to Campus
San Antonio, TX: UTSA Dining proudly introduces a new addition to dining options on campus: Taco
Taco Café, a local, family-owned restaurant that has received numerous awards and recognitions for its
food. Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, Rachel Ray’s Best 64 Tacos in America, and named the Best
Tacos in San Antonio by SA Current in 2014, Taco Taco Café brings uniqueness to campus dining. To see
a full list of the restaurant’s accolades, visit http://www.tacotacosa.com/awards/.
Not only does Taco Taco Café add variety to on-campus dining, it holds a special place with both
university president Dr. Ricardo Romo and restaurant owner Helen Velesiotis. Dr. Romo is a long-time
fan of the local restaurant and has formed a great relationship with owner Helen Velesiotis, whose
children attended UTSA.
This is the third San Antonio location for the popular restaurant, and their food is not to be missed. The
signature El Norteno taco has a delicious, authentic taste: stuffed with green peppers, cheese, avocado,
and your choice of chicken or beef, this taco fills an entire plate.
Taco Taco Café’s Grand Opening celebration is September 3, 2015 at 2:00pm in front of the restaurant,
located inside the University Center food court. A ribbon cutting with Dr. Romo and Mrs. Velesiotis will
open the celebration, which includes free food and mariachis. Be sure to arrive early: the first 50
attendees in line for the ribbon cutting will receive a free crispy taco.
