Notes - Important
1.
(a) All applications for registration are subject to approval or rejection at the sole discretion of the Irish kennel Club.
(b) The Irish Kennel Club reserves to itself the right to cancel the registration of a Prefix/Affix at any time.
2.
A Prefix/Affix shall consist of one word only - a hyphenated word is not permitted.
3.
In order to avoid delay, up to 5 choices should be indicated overleaf.
4.
Applicants may submit names of houses, townlands, small towns or villages, with which they are connected, but “ made
up” words are preferable.
5.
The Irish Kennel Club will not register as a Prefix/Affix an adjective or noun appropriate to a breed, the name of a
county, large town or area, the name of a titled person, or, as a general rule a surname.
6.
Prefix/Affix when granted cannot be used by any person other than the person or persons in whose name(s) the
Prefix/Affix is, for the time being, registered.
7.
If the applicant has been granted a Prefix/Affix by any other recognised Kennel Club, full particulars should be given.
8.
A word when registered can be used as either a Prefix or an Affix, but applicants should note that the use of a word as a
Prefix is to be preferred, as this ensures that all dogs registered in the owner’s name will then be grouped together in
The Kennel Club records.
9.
In the case of the registration of Prefix/Affix by members of the same family, the registration will be restricted to the joint
and/or several names of the husband, wife and not more than two children - names to be specified. Applications for a
Prefix/Affix in the name of more than one person (other than the foregoing) will be specially considered.
10.
A Prefix/Affix, when registered, may be added to the name of a dog, which is already registered Fee €20.00.
