Jeremiah 29:4 This is what the LORD Almighty, the God
of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from
Jerusalem to Babylon:
5 "Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat
what they produce.
6 Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for
your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that
they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in
number there; do not decrease.
7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to
which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for
it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper."
Daniel 6:1 It pleased Darius to appoint 120 satraps to
rule throughout the kingdom, with three administrators
over them, one of whom was Daniel. The satraps were
made accountable to them so that the king might not
suffer loss.
Esther 8:9 At once the royal secretaries were
summoned--on the twenty-third day of the third month,
the month of Sivan. They wrote out all Mordecai's orders
to the Jews, and to the satraps, governors and nobles of
the 127 provinces stretching from India to Cush. These
orders were written in the script of each province and the
language of each people and also to the Jews in their
own script and language.
1 Kings 8:46 "When they sin against you--for there is no
one who does not sin--and you become angry with them
and give them over to the enemy, who takes them
captive to his own land, far away or near;
47 and if they have a change of heart in the land where
they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in
the land of their conquerors and say, 'We have sinned,
we have done wrong, we have acted wickedly';
48 and if they turn back to you with all their heart and
soul in the land of their enemies who took them captive,
and pray to you toward the land you gave their fathers,
toward the city you have chosen and the temple I have
built for your Name;
49 then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their
prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.
50 And forgive your people, who have sinned against
you; forgive all the offenses they have committed
against you, and cause their conquerors to show them
mercy;
51 for they are your people and your inheritance, whom
you brought out of Egypt, out of that iron-smelting
furnace.
Psalm 55:16 But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and
he hears my voice.
18 He ransoms me unharmed from the battle waged
against me, even though many oppose me.
19 God, who is enthroned forever, will hear them and
afflict them-- "Selah" men who never change their ways
and have no fear of God.
8 Now, O king, issue the decree and put it in writing so
that it cannot be altered--in accordance with the laws of
the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed."
9 So King Darius put the decree in writing.
12 So they went to the king and spoke to him about his
royal decree: “Did you not publish a decree …”.
The king answered, “The decree stands--in accordance
with the laws of the Medes and Persians, which cannot
be repealed.”
15 Then the men went as a group to the king and said to
him, "Remember, O king, that according to the law of the
Medes and Persians no decree or edict that the king
issues can be changed."
16 So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel
and threw him into the lions' den.
