Maintain a Common Data Environment
(CDE) for the asset.
PAS 1192:3
Part 5
Viewpoint For Projects is a collaborative cloud-based Common
Data Environment providing access to the whole team and asset
managers when they need it from wherever they need it. It assists
the employer in Defining what is required from each team member,
Monitoring their progress, Validating their data entry, and Records
who has done what and when.
Appoint a Built Asset Security Manager
and Develop and Maintain a Built Asset
Security Strategy (BASS).
PAS 1192:5
Clause 5.3
&6
As the Asset Information Model, Viewpoint For Projects retains the
BASS as required, through the asset life, recording to whom it has
been issued, viewed by, developed, and amended (by members of the
design and construction team during any capital project).
The CIC Prototol is a contract document
for use with any standard building
contract. It resolves IPR and Professional
indemnity insurance issues. An identical
CIC Protocol must be issued to each party
contributing to the BIM.
CIC Protocol
Viewpoint For Projects CDE ensures that this process is recorded and
documented.
The role of Information Manager (usually
as an additional appointment to an
existing contributor) should be allocated
through the asset’s life. This may be a
number of succeeding appointments.
CIC
Appointment
of An
Information
Manager
Viewpoint For Projects CDE documents these appointments and the
Information Planner ensures that the role and responsibilities are
clear and monitored at all times.
Correct Tendering and BIM level 2 Process.
PAS 1192:2
Parts 5 & 6
Viewpoint For Projects CDE tendering tool allows formal tender
process to be followed and monitored. The BS/PAS 1192 template
and workflows ensure that all collaborators follow correct procedure
and can collaborate effectively
COBie - The Employer should define
what is required from the design and
construction team.
BS 1192:4
The COBie planner ensures that COBie deliverables are defined
clearly. What the design and construction teams should deliver at
each work stage is established as a contractual deliverable, and
progress and accuracy can be monitored and validated.
OIR / AIR
PAS 1192:3
Viewpoint For Projects CDE retains the developed Organisation
Information Requirements and Asset Information requirement in
accordance with the standard. Its workflows can ensure that the asset
owners’ organisation follows the requirements of these documents
and ensures who has done what and when is recorded.
When a new capital project is undertaken,
the information requirements from
the OIR and AIR are used to inform an
Employers Information Requirement (EIR),
issued at tender as part of the Employers
Requirements and defining the “soft” data
information deliverables for the project.
PAS 1192:3
Clause 3.1.5
Note 2
Viewpoint For Projects Information Planner includes an EIR tool
complete with helpful notes to assist the compiler.
The Digital Plan of Work (dPOW)
PAS 1192:3
Clause 0.2 (b)

Viewpoint For Projects CDE utilises the same underlying technology
as the dPOW. Requirements from the dPOW can be entered into
Viewpoint’s Information Planner.
Compare information across multiple
assets.

Viewpoint For Projects new non-SQL database allows us to compare
data across multiple assets within our Common Data Environment,
as long as the data is in COBie format.

Viewpoint For Projects is a collaborative cloud-based Common Data
Environment providing access to the whole team and asset managers
when they need it from wherever they need it. It assists the employer
in Defining what is required from each team member, Monitoring
their progress, Validating their data entry, and Records who has done
what and when.
Assembling the Project Implementation
Plan (PIP) as the requirement for each BIM
contributor to provide evidence in the precontract BEP of their BIM expertise.
PAS 1192:2
Clause 6.3.
Viewpoint For Projects Information Planner allows the Information
Manager to identify what information is required by whom and when
and then Monitor progress and Record both delivery and inclusion
of the information within the BIM Execution Plan (BEP). It will also
record the formal response to the prospective employer.
Compiling the pre- and post-contract BIM
Execution Plan (BEP)
PAS 1192:2
Clause 6.2,
7.2.
Viewpoint For Projects Information Planner includes tools and
advisory notes to assist the Information Manager in compiling both
the pre-contract and post-contract BEPs. The Information Planner
helps Define what information is required by whom and when and
then Monitor progress and Record both delivery and inclusion of the
information within the BEP. It will also record the formal response to
the prospective employer.
Contractors EIRs: Any employer of
someone providing BIM information will
have information requirements. In addition
to those of the Employer, the Contractor
will have additional requirements of
the supply chain to ensure that the
information is in a format to allow the
BIM to be used during the construction
process.
PAS 1192:2
Clause 5.2.2
Note.
Viewpoint For Projects EIR tool in the Information Planner allows the
contractor to template their additional requirements and add them to
those of the employer. This ensures that the deliverables are clearly
defined in one place with access for all parties.
COBie: The delivery of sharable structured
data for the management of a built
asset is a key deliverable of Level 2 BIM.
(Note: COBie works for Infrastructure
as well as buildings). As part of the EIR,
COBie deliverables will be defined by the
Employer. However, the delivery team
then have to decide who is doing what
and when throughout the supply chain
and include this information in the post
contract BEP.
BS 1192:4
Viewpoint For Projects Information Planner includes a COBie
planning section. This allows the allocation by CIC work stage of the
COBie deliverables to any member of the supply chain (dependent
upon how the job is packaged up). Once this is done, the delivery
of each work stage can be monitored with the RAG reporting tool
showing exactly what items have not been completed.
The data entry is also validated to ensure that it is in the correct
format. Any element of the model or COBie spreadsheet can be
selected and its counterpart is shown. Supply chain COBie data
can be entered by them at the appropriate stage over any Internet
connection, either directly into the COBie spreadsheet or onto a
spreadsheet.
All COBie from different contributors can be federated into a single
COBie file for issue to the Employer. All data entry is Monitored and
who has done what is Recorded.

Incorporation of Information from the
Digital Plan of Work (dPOW)

dPOW
references.
Viewpoint For Projects BIM Manager utilises the same technology
as the dPOW. The solution’s Information Planner is also in a similar
format, which allows the dPOW information to be entered easily into
the Information Planner.

Viewpoint For Projects BIM Manager allows each contributor to
upload their portion of the model to the CDE. This can then be
federated and viewed with any Internet capable device (mobile and
fixed). No additional software is required and the viewer is easy to
use by those not trained in BIM software. The solution also has the
capability to share the model live for review, mark up, and allocation
of tasks. BCF (BIM collaboration format) round tripping allows each
contributor to go directly to the task location within their originating
software. Each uploaded model can be checked against previous
uploads and then shows what has changed, been deleted, or been
added.

Viewpoint For Projects has a naming convention tool within the
Information Planner, which can be used to Define any preferred
naming convention but is templated to BS/PAS 1192. The tool
validates naming, informing the uploader if the file being submitted is
non-compliant.
Avoiding Model Bloat and Keeping BIM
Models lean and usable
Not a
requirement,
but it is a

The Viewpoint For Projects database allows you to add any
information or documents to any elements of the model. This
information retains its link but resides in the CDE, not in the model,
which keeps models lean and usable.
