Arab League - Plainview-Old Bethpage Metropolitan model united

Metropolitan Model United Nations Conference
XLIV
Arab League ______________________________________________________
Dear Delegates,
It is our honor to welcome you to the 44th annual Model United Nations
conference at Plainview John F. Kennedy High School. We are very excited to
hear your opinions on our topics that we have been preparing, and to meet each
and every one of you.
The Arab League was formed in March of 1945, in Cairo. With only six
original member states, Arab League has grown exponentially. Starting off as just
Egypt, Iraq, Transjordan (renamed Jordan after 1946), Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and
Syria, this league now has 22 member states. The goal during the formation of the
Arab League was to strengthen the links between all members, and to further the
joint interests of all Arab Nations. For our conference, the topics we will be
debating will be:
The Mass Migration across the Mediterranean,
Women’s rights, and
The Houthis situation in Yemen.
In this conference we hope to see you all work together to formulate creative
and intellectual solutions to the issues at hand, as well as participate in productive
debate and pass many resolutions. We look forward to seeing you all soon!
With warm regards,
Daniel Gulotta
