October 2016 Newsletter

Principal’s Message
I hope you are all enjoying your autumn so far! We’ve had a busy month
of September at Macoun School, and are leaping right into a busy
October. Thanks to everyone who supported The Cancer Society and
our Terry Fox Walk to raise $1200! An unbelievable effort, everyone!

Macoun School staff and students would like to welcome our newest
students– Carlos, Mike, and Aaron, in grades 1, 5, and 8 respectively.
We wish you all the best in the coming year!

I want to take this opportunity to remind you about the important work
that our School Community Council (SCC) does. October is our Annual
General Meeting (AGM) and I want to personally welcome the new
members that attended September’s meeting. The SCC enrich the
wonderful work staff are already doing. The SCC works with teachers to
maintain a safe and caring environment for all of our students; they look
at school-wide data for literacy, math, and student engagement to
support our continued school improvement.
Also, I would like to remind parents of the program Student Achieve
(formerly known as HomeLogic). This is the same program used last
year but wanted to remind you of its existence. This is a portal for
parents to be informed about their child’s achievement in all subject
areas. There is a parent log, if you need assistance with this please do
not hesitate to contact the school.
A sincere thank you for your continued help and support in making
Macoun School great! We are all looking forward to the 2016-17 school
year!
Warmest Wishes,
Mrs. Annmarie Rosner

It was a beautiful day for Macoun School students, staff
& parents to participate in the annual Terry Fox Walk.
They reached their goal and raised a total of $1280! Way
to go, Macoun! A big THANK YOU goes out to Macoun
Coop who donated water, and Weyburn Dairy Queen for
donating ice cream treats! Also, thanks to all who
pledged these great students!
To kick off another great school year, Macoun
School hosted an outdoor movie night! The
weather cooperated and the students; along with
their families, enjoyed watching ‘The Jungle
Book’ under the stars.
Macoun School staff & students would like to shout out a great big
THANK YOU to Amanda Smith, Gary Bachorcik and Adam
Bachorcik for installing the 3 benches along the playground over
the summer; and also for planting trees around the school yard!
Congratulations to the Students
