It will be cumulative, covering everything from the first day of school until the exam. There will be 100 multiple choice, true/false, or matching questions on the exam. Each question will count for one point totaling to 100 points for the exam. You will have almost two hours to complete the exam. If you know you will be ABSENT on the day of the exam, please schedule another time to make up the exam before summer break. All exams that are not taken before break will receive a zero in the grade book and be added to your report card grade. BONUS!! You will be able to bring one 3X5 note card (no bigger) with anything that you want written on it (front and back) to the exam and use it while you take the test. If the note card is larger than 3X5 it will not be allowed to be used. Study Tips: A. Be sure to study all old tests and quizzes. They will have ALL the questions and information you will see on the exam. Test questions can be viewed or checked out to take home during any help session. B. You will have almost TWO FULL WEEKS to study for the exam. Study a few items each night to make studying more manageable so you won’t be overwhelmed. I have broken them up into smaller sections you should try to do each night. DO NOT WAIT until the last minute to study!!! C. Use your old study guides. You have already done most of this work. You just need to refresh your memory. D. This exam will count for almost as much as TWO QUIZ grades so it has the power to really move your grade up if you study or down if you don’t. Take advantage of this opportunity. E. SCHEDULE HELP SESSIONS to go over anything that is confusing for you or that you need help with. DO NOT wait until the last minute or I may not be available to see you. Tonight’s Homework is to GET ORGANIZED – Gather old tests and quizzes. If you have lost any get with a friend to see about making copies of theirs. I will not be able to provide copies of old tests to keep, but you can come to help session and look at any test questions you would like. Gather all vocabulary. Organize study materials into sections by chapter and lesson number. This will make studying MUCH EASIER for you. Tuesday and Wednesday Night Homework 1. Collect and begin studying all vocabulary definitions and notes from lessons 1.1 - 1.2, pages 49-50 of lesson 2.1, lessons 2.2 - 2.4, and lessons 3.1-3.2, 4.1-4.2, 5.1-5.2, 6.2, 12.1-12.2, 13. 2, 14.1-14.3, 17.1, and 7.3. Divide the lessons up so you study a little bit each night. Don’t panic. These are all review so you should remember most of them as you review. 2. Know all the characteristics of life and be able to identify examples of each characteristic 3. Know where all the energy on our Earth comes from 4. Know how to name organisms and classify them according to the levels of classification: domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. Weekend Homework 1. Know examples of organisms for each kingdom (there are six) 2. Know which kingdoms are grouped in the Eukarya domain 3. Know which classification taxa (group) is the most general and which is the most specific 4. Be able to use a dichotomous key to name an unknown organism 5. Know who Linnaeus, Aristotle, Hooke, Whittaker, van Leeuwenhoek, Schleiden, Schwann, Vichow, Mendel, and Darwin, what time period they are from, and what their major contributions to science were. 6.
