AGE OF REASON/ENLIGHTENMENT/
REVOLUTIONARY ERA
Mission
1. Using your iPads, look up Age of Reason OR Age of
Enlightenment OR Revolutionary Era (all titles for same timeframe).
Areas you can explore: politics, science, math, art, etc.
2. Each member of your table contribute words or names that are
associated with that timeframe. Discuss these @ your table!
3. One member of the table write down all of the words/names. Each
table will pick a # out of basket to determine order of sharing out…no
repeats (so last group…have lots of choices!)  10-15 minutes! Go!!

WRITE WHAT IS IN BOLD IN YOUR NOTES!
Stressed reason, logic, science, and order (as opposed
to Puritans which emphasized tradition and faith).
Deism – saw God as a clockmaker - became a form of
religion: tried to reconcile “reason” and God (as opposed
to God controlling every aspect).
Writing was political and persuasive (as opposed to
plain, simple, and to glorify God).
