Listening plays a critical role in human connections. This skill is essential to build high trust
relationships. In today’s busy and fast paced world it’s easy to get caught in the trap of
assuming what a donor hopes to accomplish by making a significant gift or contribution.
Short term ineffective listening often causes lost donations and funding but more
importantly, it undermines the potential for mutually beneficial long-term relationships
between you and the donor. The kinds of relationships where donors achieve deep
satisfaction from their generosity, you achieve your fundraising goals and your organization
achieves its mission.
Our approach to developing and polishing your listening skills positions you to consciously
and clearly understand each donor’s expectations, the impact they hope to make and their
motivations for giving. It enhances your ability to understand and evaluate the attitudes of
prospective and current donors. You learn what to listen for so you can more effectively
influence donors to make more significant gifts to your organization.
