Tuesday: Read
Reading packet is due Friday.
Do math workbook pages 167-168.
Reading: We will continue using our reading series and
working in small groups. Our comprehension strategy will
be visualize, our comprehension skill will be compare and
contrast, and our vocabulary strategy will be similes. We
will be reading different stories and discussing “How are
kids around the world different?” Our genre this week is
realistic fiction.
High frequency words: heavy, people, together, carry,
outside, warm, problem, ago, certain, everyone
Vocabulary words (tested): common – owned or shared by
everyone, costume – clothing worn to look like something
or someone else, customs – ways of acting or events that a
group of people has done over and over again, favorite –
something you like the best, parades – large groups of
people, including bands, moving through a public place
for a special event, surrounded – closed in on all sides by
something else, travels – to go over or through a place,
wonder – to think about something because you are
curious about it
Language Arts: This week we will talk about the irregular
verbs go and do.
Theme: We will begin learning about different types of soil
including sand, clay, and humus. We’ll also learn about
plants and the functions of each part of the plant.
Math: We will continue our study of money. You can
GREATLY help your child with this by having them count
spare change in the evenings.
