Your Fundraising Pack
Whether you prefer to keep your fundraising simple or have a little
time to organise something extra special, thank you for everything
you do to help us stop breast cancer in its tracks.

In this pack you’ll find lots of fundraising ideas to get you started.
We think you’ll find something that you and your family, friends and
colleagues can do together to raise vital funds.
Why breast cancer?
• Over 58,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer each year
• 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
• 11,500 people die from breast cancer each year.
Our Breast Cancer Research
We aim to raise £1 million to support the following 3 areas of breast cancer research:
• Detecting Cancer Early: With the aim of creating the world’s first blood test to
detect breast cancer early.
• Stopping Cancer From Spreading: To help us understand what makes cancer spread
and stop it.
• Developing Personalised Treatments For Cancer Patients.

Life Cycle
Having completed five successful Life Cycles - raising in excess of £1.8m – Riders will be
back in the saddle once again in 2016. This year’s challenge is stopping breast cancer in its
tracks.
Life Cycle Community Day
Why not take part in our Life Cycle Community
Day on Sunday 4 September. There are 4
distances to choose from - 75, 50, 25 or 10
miles - you’ll be cheered across the finish line
and receive a well-deserved goody bag and
medal to mark your achievement.

Bike
Go the extra mile for breast cancer research
Cycle your commute: Cycle your commute for a week and donate the savings you make
from the cost of your usual commute.
Sporting heroes: Whether it’s Chris Hoy, John McEnroe, Bullseye’s Bully, or even RED RUM
– dress up as your favourite sporting hero to show everyone you’ve donated and made a
difference to breast cancer research.
Matched giving: Check whether a family/friend’s company offers a matched giving
scheme – they could double your money!

Step Out for Impact!
Looking for a more sedate activity
to involve friends, family and
colleagues in your fundraising
efforts? Why not organise a local
sponsored walk. We have
downloadable walk leaflets from
across the East Midlands from
local country parks something
more off the beaten track.
Christmas
Christmas choir and collection: Held in your foyer to get colleagues
into the Christmas spirit.
Christmas hamper raffle: Donate a Christmas hamper and raffle this
to customers for £1 a ticket.
Christmas Jumpers: Wear your loudest Christmas jumper to work
for a donation.
Pancakes
Pancake Race: Grab a frying pan and pancake
mix and host a sponsored pancake race.
Flipathon: Host a sponsored ‘How many
successful pancake flips in a minute can you
achieve?’
Highest Flip: Host a sponsored highest
successful flip competition.
Sell your pancakes: Sell different flavoured
varieties of pancakes.
Easter
Guess the Name of the Bunny Sweepstake: Find yourself
a big cuddly toy bunny and invite colleagues to guess the
name from a long list, and the right answer wins the
bunny! Customers can take part for a suggested donation
of £1.
Hot Cross Bun Bake Sale: Put your baking skills to the test
and hold a cake sale including some scrumptious hot
cross buns. Or try and tempt colleagues with some
homemade yummy chocolaty treats. Invite colleagues to
try a treat for a suggested donation of £1.
Summer
BBQ extravaganza: There's nothing better to do on
a warm summer’s evening than get the BBQ out.
Why not make this into a fundraiser? Keep it
simple and just charge per burger, or go all out and
organise live music, children’s games and a raffle.
Whatever you decide to do, if the weather stays
dry you’re sure to have a great summer fundraising
event.
Children's sports day: A classic summer fundraising
idea. Egg and spoon, sack race, three-legged race take your friends and family back to their
childhood by organising a children's sports day.
Charge by the person or by the team and maximise
your donations by having a cake or juice sale. No
cheating allowed!
Halloween
Let’s get spooky: Grab your witch’s/wizard’s hat and dress up in Halloween fancy dress.
Donate £1 each for the day.
Creepy crawlies challenge: A fundraiser for colleagues to get behind. Hide (plastic!)
spiders or spider stickers in store and see who can find them first. Donate £1 to take
part.
A trick or treat lucky dip: A lucky dip where not every prize is a treat!
What will your impact be?
Your fundraising will be included as part of the Nottingham’s Life Cycle 6 campaign which
aims to raise £1 million to research the detection and spread of breast cancer and to
develop personalised treatments for cancer sufferers.
Nottingham is home to the world’s first blood test to detect lung cancer and the
platform is poised and our award winning breast cancer research team of the year
are now ready to target breast cancer and other solid cancers.
