OMAM Foreshadowing Paragraph
Lennie Will Get Sick
Lennie will get sick from drinking from the pool of water. George and Lennie stop to
rest by the Salinas River and Lennie dips his whole head in the water. George warns,
“’Lennie, for God’ sakes don’t drink so much…You gonna be sick like you was last night’”
(3). Lennie has a mental disability and does not know that it is bad to drink still water.
George is continuously teaching and reminding Lennie what to do and what not to do
because he is a loyal friend and caretaker to Lennie. Also, Lennie was sick the previous
night, which suggests that Lennie often gets sick from eating or drinking things he should
not consume. Lennie’s mistake of drinking from the pool of water will cause him to get sick
again.
