WHAT IS GAS PLASMA?
By definition, plasma is an ionized state of matter.
Think of it as a gas carrying a lot of energy but not
heat energy. This energy is used to change the surface
of materials by etching, growing new material onto a
surface, or by modifying the chemistry of a surface.
Everyday forms of plasma include the solar corona,
lightning, neon lights, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Although plasmas exist over a wide range of
temperatures and pressures, cold plasmas (also called
low-pressure plasmas) are of primary interest for heat
sensitive materials.

materials both physically and chemically.
