GRADING POLICY:
Your grade will be based on points received in the following categories:
1.
GRADED ASSIGNMENTS
* Graded assignments consists of graded worksheets/problems completed in or
outside of class
2.
ASSESSMENTS
* We will have section quizzes ( usually two per chapter ) which will range
in value from 30 to 50 points.
* Each unit / chapter test will have a value of 60 to100 points. The majority of
test questions are pulled from homework problems with a few old
AP exam questions.
* Most quizzes will be non-calculator and tests will be calculator to help prepare
students for the AP exam.
You MUST SHOW WORK TO RECEIVE CREDIT on quizzes , tests, and
any assignment that is collected and graded !

COMPOSITION BOOK ASSIGNMENTS - reading textbook and taking notes,
must include an example for each theorem ( composition book assignments will
be spot checked for completion the next day ( 0 , 1, or 2 points ) ( may get 1
point if completed 1 day late )
AP TEST DATE: Thursday, MAY 5 ( morning session )

HOMEWORK:
Homework is the practice you need to understand and learn the concepts of this course.
Homework/practice should be done nightly. THIS IS A RIGOROUS COLLEGE LEVEL
COURSE and it is imperative that students put time and effort into assignments. Students
must take the initiative to ask for help as soon as they are struggling with the material.
Answers to odd problems are in the back of the book. Students will be provided the
opportunity to ask questions on homework/practice in class. Students are encouraged to work
together on assignments. Reading the textbook and looking at examples are skills you
should be practicing for college.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
* calculator ( A calculator is required for this course. We suggest a TI graphing
calculator 83, 84, 86, or 89 . ) I use the TI -84 for demonstration purposes.
• composition notebook ( Quad Ruled – graph paper pages )
EXPECTATIONS:
* come to class on time
* bring appropriate materials daily
* take notes ( notes provide examples and explanations that should be used
for completing homework)
* utilize class time effectively
* be respectful of yourself, others and school property
