The Conettix B420 Ethernet Communication Module is
a communication device that manages secure, two-way
IP communications over Ethernet networks for
compatible control panels.
Typical applications include:
• Reporting and path supervision to a Conettix
Communications Receiver/Gateway.
• Remote administration and control with Remote
Programming Software.
• Connecting to building automation and integration

System overview
The system overview diagram shows several available
configuration options of a Conettix IP system. Items 1
through 3 are installed at the protected premises,
while the remaining system components can be
connected locally or remotely.

The B420 is built for a wide variety of secure
commercial and industrial applications. Flexible endto-end path supervision, 128 bit AES encryption and
anti-substitution features make B420 desirable for
high security and fire monitoring applications. It is
capable as a stand-alone path or it can be used in
conjunction with another communication technology.
For Fire Monitoring applications, the B420 meets
UL864 and NFPA72 standards for Single
Communication Technology with approved Bosch
control panels.

IP Network Support
Supports DHCP, UPnP, and Auto IP addressing by
default, but can also be configured for Static IP
networks.
Easy Configuration
For most DHCP network installations, the default
settings of the B420 allow installation with no PC
required. Universal Plug & Play (UPnP) supports
automatic UDP port mapping for remotely
programming a B420 behind a firewall, as well as http
port mapping for web configurations. For customized
settings, the B420 supports a full web configuration
menu remotely, or by a direct Ethernet connection.
The GV4 Series Control Panels can configure the B420
through the keypad, or through RPS.

Mounting Considerations
Mount the B420 inside the control panel enclosure
using the standard three-hole pattern.
Wiring Considerations
The B420 connects to a control panel using a data bus
connection and to an Ethernet network using a
standard Category 5 or above Ethernet cable with an
RJ45 plug.
