Grading Procedures...
Just a quick note about the Genesis Parent Portal...
• October 7th is mid marking period. At this time you will be able to view your child's
progress report via the Genesis Parent Portal. Paper progress reports will not be
distributed unless requested by parent.
• After the 1st marking period, the Parent Portal for grades will be open for viewing at
any time during the marking period. Just a few thoughts to help:
1. Try to avoid checking grades on a daily basis - grades change rapidly.
2. Try to remember that one grade is just a part of the whole - it is best to wait
for mid marking period to view to ensure you are seeing an accurate cross
section of grades.
3. Please know that just because a grade is not recorded in Genesis does not mean
it was not graded or returned. Please ask your child about specific assignments.
4. Even though he/she may want us to, let's not forget about the child! Please ask
them if you have any questions regarding the marks in Genesis first. I would be
more than happy to address any concerns with your child.

I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a young child’s mind
And they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher, the tools she used
Were books and music and art.
The other was a parent with a guiding hand and a gentle loving heart.
Day after day, the teacher toiled with touch that was deft and sure.
While parent labored by her side
And polished and smoothed it o’er.
And when at last their task was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had molded into the child
Could never be sold or bought.
And each agree they would have failed
If each had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school
And behind the teacher, the home.
