Mad Science - Summer 2017

Montville Recreation Department’s
MAD SCIENCE
SUMMER CAMPS
Sparking Imaginative Learning
We will be offering two weeks of fun, crazy, wild science. Plan to attend all of them for a positively Mad Summer of Science!
Slimy Potions Camp (Ages 5-10) - July 5th to 7th from 9:00am to 12:00pm
Join us in the depths of the Mad Science Laboratory where we harness the marvelous powers of liquids! Join us for a
Mad “hands-on” experience as a Junior Mad Scientist! We’ll create chemical reactions, learn to make bath fizzers, find
out the secret to making chocolate taffy rolls and ooey gooey slime, create acid/base volcanoes and lots more!
Brixology Camp (Ages 7-12) - July 5th to 7th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm
Kids learn about different types of engineering and then team up to construct a different engineering-themed project
using LEGO® bricks. They learn about aerospace engineering while assembling a space station. They explore
mechanical engineering as they build boats and vehicles. That’s not all, from carnival rides to drawing machines,
mechanical animals to truss bridges, your future engineer will build upon their creativity to solve real-world design
challenges, while developing their problem-solving and team-building skills. Let the tinkering begin!
NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers (Ages 5-10) - Aug 28th to Sept 1st from 9:00am to 12:00pm
Students set off on a voyage to discover the Solar System. We will explore topics such as Planets and Moons, Sun and
Stars, Space Phenomena, Rocket Science and Space Travel, Space Technology and Living in Space! Our camp culminates
with a rocket launch or two and each camper will make their own Mad Science Rocket to take home!
Invention-ation Camp (Ages 5-10) - August 28th to September 1st from 1:00pm to 4:00pm
Campers will overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors and
(the most important of all) their minds! This summer camp involves a team-based approach to solving problems, but
will also include projects like building your own light saber, rocket-launcher, and more! Discover and create!
