Present Past Master David L. Hall welcomed the Past Masters and their ladies with a “Valentine’s Day Every Day” greeting and then called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m. The Pledge of allegiance was given and an invocation by Past Master Gary Durr. Unit Representative Past Master Roger Mullenax reported on the progress of the pavilion and picnic grounds. Onion sale now going on, see him for order forms. Under unfinished business it was reported that there are four seats left for the Past Master Unit’s sponsored bus trip to greyhound races & casino in Wheeling, WV on April 15th and plans are under way for the Cinco De Mayo event on Friday, May 5th. For new business Past Master Jim Ward shared the idea of the Unit laying wreaths for holidays on the veteran’s graves at the Rocky Gap Veteran’s Cemetery. It would involve paying for the wreaths and then laying on the graves at the cemetery. PM Bruce Whitaker will look into a contact for the cemetery and how many veterans graves are there. PM Jim Ward will find out the cost for the wreaths. Under the “Good of the Club”, President Past Master David Hall introduced Past Masters Bob Dawson (Potomac Lodge No. 100) and Bruce Whitaker (Queen City Lodge No. 131) and their ladies. He stated the Unit was glad to have them here today. Potentate William DuVall thanked the Unit for helping at his installation and spoke about upcoming Shrine events. As Spring and warmer months approach, the mowing season for our lawn at Ali Ghan will arrive. To all Railroad Unit Nobles and Ladies, Another month in the books for 2017 and spring cleanup is fast approaching which means that we will need to pitch in and prepare the unit for the upcoming train season which will begin with the picnic ground rentals and then starting next month our spaghetti dinners will start with the first one on April 3rd.
