Tasks
This week we have been thinking about writing in the first person (writing
about your own experiences) and also in the third person (writing about
someone else’s experiences).
For your homework, copy out the story of Perseus (below), but change it from
third person to first person. To do this you will need to imagine you are
Perseus! Remember, when writing in the first person, you should be using: I,
we, our, me, my.
Next, finish the story, again writing in the first person.
Perseus and the Gorgon Medusa
Perseus and his mother lived in Ancient Greece, where there
was a cruel king called Polydectus. Polydectus wanted to
marry Peseus’ mother Danae. The king decided to send
Perseus away on a dangerous quest, hoping that he would
not return.
Perseus’ quest was to kill the Gorgon Medusa and bring
back her head. Knowing that his quest was impossible,
Perseus visited the Temple of Athena to pray for help. The
gods heard his prayer and granted him 5 gifts. These were a
helmet of invisibility, a sword, a shiny shield and a magic
pouch. The final gift was a pair of winged sandals from
Hermes, which gave Perseus the ability to fly.
Remember all homework should be completed in pencil. Your writing and
presentation should be your neatest at all times!
