The Athletic Communications Office extends its
thanks to all members of past athletic communications staffs that have assisted in compiling
information that is an integral part of this guide.
Any corrections or additions to the media guide
are welcome and should be directed in writing
to Jeff Bechthold (see page 2 for the Athletic
Communications Department address.)
Media Guide Restrictions
Prior to the 2005 football season, NCAA legislation
limited the size of media guides to 208 pages.
Nearly 200 pages were removed from the UW
guide to comply with those new regulations.

Pro Football Scout Passes
Professional football scouts should contact UW Athletic
Communications (543-2230) to obtain press box passes to
UW football games. Press box availability may be limited, so
scouts are advised to make requests as early as possible.
Postgame Interviews
The elevator will leave the press box level at both the eight
and four-minute marks in the fourth quarter for all members
of the media wishing to go to the interview area. The elevator
will leave again immediately following the end of the game.
Athletic communications personnel will escort the media to
the interview room (Founders’ Club, Bank of America Arena)
and will bring athletes to the Founders’ Club by request. The
visiting Sports Information Director determines postgame
Media members should be aware of several NCAA
rules that apply to student-athletes. If there is ever
a question if any media-related activity or event
including a Washington student-athlete could be
a possible NCAA violation, contact the athletic
communications office for an interpretation. Areas
of concern include:
• Coaches and University officials cannot make
comments on prospective student-athletes until
they sign a national letter of intent. A coach cannot
comment on a prospective student-athlete who
verbally commits to an institution.
• Coaches and athletic staff are not permitted to
write guest columns for publications.
• Do not ask student-athletes to list or endorse
products.
• Photographers cannot provide student-athletes
with photographs or slides. The media relations
office offers a similar service for student-athletes
to purchase photographs.
• Student-athletes may not be used in advertisements or endorsements of products, including
media-related publications.
• Student-athletes are not permitted to conduct
interviews for 1-900 services.
• Establishing an Internet site in and of itself does
not categorize an individual as a media entity.
Therefore, individuals who establish Internet
sites independent of the institution continue to
be subject to all applicable restrictions related to
contacting prospects for a recruiting purpose.
WASHINGTON HUSKIES 2007 FOOTBALL MEDIA GUIDE
WASHINGTON WAY
Photo passes are available for accredited news media. They
should be ordered in the same manner as press credentials.
Visiting media should make requests through the visiting
Sports Information Director. Photographers may work from
the sidelines in accordance with NCAA rules. In no case may
a photographer shoot from in front of either team’s bench.
No tripods are allowed on the field. Passes should be worn
in plain sight. Armbands must be picked up prior to kickoff
by showing a photo credential at the table located in the
west end zone. Failure to adhere to these regulations, or any
interference with play, is reason for expulsion. A work area
will be available at Husky Stadium for digital photographers.
Husky Stadium is located five miles north of downtown Seattle
and approximately 30 minutes north of Sea-Tac Airport. To get
to the stadium from downtown Seattle, take I-5 North and take
the 520 East (Bellevue/Kirkland) Exit. Take the Montlake Exit
and turn left at the stoplight. Husky Stadium is located off
Montlake Boulevard, on the right side of the street. Traffic
conditions can become congested prior to gametime and media
are advised to arrive at Husky Stadium early.

Limited press parking is located in areas designated N-24,
E-11, S-1 and C-21. The E-11 lot is located on the northwest
perimeter of the stadium. The C-21 lot is an underground
garage located due west from Husky Stadium, directly across
Montlake Boulevard. Parking passes should be requested
through the Athletic Communications Office. Visiting media
should make parking requests through the visiting Sports
Information Director.
The athletic communications department has two telephone
lines installed in the press box (543-2230 and 543-2231).
These lines are intended for athletic communications use
only. If media members require telephones, please call the
University of Washington Telecommunications Department
at (206) 543-0133. The Telecommunications Department will
arrange to install phone lines at your expense.

Telephones
Head Coach Tyrone Willingham holds a press conference each
Monday at noon during the season in the Founders’ Club. Every
attempt will be made to have the opposing coach available
via teleconference hookup prior to Coach Willingham’s comments. All members of the media are encouraged to attend
these weekly conferences. The press conference can also be
accessed by teleconference. Call to acquire the phone number
for the teleconference.
OPPONENTS
All credentials should be requested from the athletic communications office in writing. Requests should be made
at least one week prior to the game. Credentials will be
mailed if time permits. Credentials are generally mailed to
the opponent SID the week before the game to distribute
to visiting media covering the game. Credentials not mailed
will be available on gameday from 9 a.m. until noon (for a
12:30 game) in the lobby of the Graves Building. After noon
they will be left at Will Call at the west side of the stadium.
Visiting media should make requests through the visiting
Sports Information Director.
Quarterly play-by-play accounts, computerized halftime and
final statistics, scoring summaries and coaches’ quotes will
be distributed in the press box, in the postgame interview
area and in the Founders’ Club media workroom following
the end of the game. Play-by-play information, statistics,
injury updates, etc., will be reported over the internal press
box public address system. A food service will be provided
prior to kickoff and at halftime.

Press Credentials
Services
Media members may work in the press box following games,
but are encouraged to use the Founders’ Club (3rd level, Bank
of America Arena) for filing purposes. Postgame interviews
will be held in the Founders’ Club and there is plenty of work
space, wireless internet, phones to use for filing, restroom
facilities and soft drinks. Final statistics and coach and player
quotes will be available in the work area.
COACHES
Contact the Athletic Communications Office for ALL interview requests. It is very helpful to have 24 hours notice
so that the athletic communications staff will have ample
time to make arrangements with players and coaches.
Student-athletes are typically available before practice from
1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday on a first-come,
first-served basis. Athletes are not available for interviews
Thursday, Friday or on Saturday prior to a game. Head Coach
Tyrone Willingham will conduct interviews with print and
electronic media before practice. All interviews are conducted in the media workroom at Bank of America Arena.
No interviews will be conducted after practice.
The press box elevator is located on the lower level of the
south side of Husky Stadium. The elevator is used by members
of both teams’ coaching staffs, media representatives and a
limited amount of fans who require an elevator pass. Only
accredited media will be allowed access to the elevator and
press box. Please arrive at least 90 minutes before kickoff
to assure your arrival at the press area well before game
time. Media members do not have priority elevator use, so
be sure to arrive early.

its practices at Husky Stadium. The team’s annual Picture
Day will take place on Saturday, Aug. 11 at Husky Stadium.
Practices will tentatively be held twice a day for the first two
weeks. The Huskies will hold practices Tuesday through
Friday during the regular season. The first 25 minutes of
practice are open to the media. All Friday road practices
are closed. Out-of-town media should contact the athletic
communications office about access.
A box lunch will be served to photographers during halftime
at the credential table in the west end zone. Freelance photographers will be subject to University licensing regulations
for any images portraying Washington student-athletes and

OUTLOOK
ISP Sports, America’s foremost collegiate sports marketing company, enters its
second season as the multimedia rightsholder for UW Athletics and the producer
of the Washington ISP Sports Network.
Headquartered in Winston-Salem, N.C., ISP brings a national presence to the
overall marketing of Husky sports. The company also serves as the rightsholder for
nearly 40 major college athletic programs, including UW’s fellow Pac-10 members
Cal and UCLA.
The Washington ISP Sports Network takes the air two hours before kickoff and
the first hour of pre-game features analysis from former Husky quarterback, Hugh
Millen, former Husky coach, Dick Baird, and 950 KJR-AM personality, Dave “Softy”
Mahler. Following the opening hour, the broadcast is spearheaded by longtime “Voice
of the Huskies” Bob Rondeau. Rondeau is joined by former Husky All-American
placekicker Chuck Nelson, who provides analysis and color commentary. Elise
Woodward provides sideline reports.
The radio network also produces a weekly one-hour coach’s show featuring
Tyrone Willingham airing Mondays live from Anthony’s Homeport Shilshole during
the season from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 pm.
Every game, the coaches show and other features that are produced by the ISP
Sports Network can also be heard on the Internet at GoHuskies.com.

Television Partners
The University of Washington enjoys extensive television coverage of its football
games through the Pacific-10 Conference’s agreements with ABC-TV, ESPN, Fox
Sports Net and Versus. Specific games are selected to be a part of the league’s
television package in one of two ways: 1) During a preseason selection process
that determines telecasts for the first few weeks of the season and selected noteworthy games during the season; and 2) Throughout the season the league makes
television selections either six or 12 days in advance of each weekend of play. This
process allows the league and its television partners the flexibility to telecast the
most attractive games each week.
In addition to the league package, UW and FSN Northwest have developed
a partnership that allows the regional sports cable network exclusive rights to
televise all available games that are not selected as part of the Pac-10 package,
provided there is an available broadcast window. In addition, FSN Northwest
produces a weekly Washington football show with Coach Tyrone Willingham that
airs each week.
