Leland Ryken, Keynote Speaker
Leland Ryken, Professor of English at Wheaton College (IL) since 1968, has written or edited
multiple books including How to Read the Bible as Literature (1984), Words of Delight: A
Literary Introduction to the Bible (1993), The Christian Imagination: The Practice of Faith in
Literature and Writing (2002), The Liberated Imagination: Thinking Christianly About the
Arts (2005), A Complete Handbook of Literary Forms in the Bible (2014), and Literary
Introductions to the Books of the Bible (2015).

“Music of Shakespeare” (Innovators Auditorium Side B)
Experience a brief foray into the accompanying instrumental music of the 16th
and 17th century, specifically instrumental music presented in Romeo and Juliet.
Frances Moore, Violin
Professor Moore teaches violin at the University of California Riverside, works with El Sistema
and Mt San Jacinto Jr. College where she conducts, and teaches chamber music and private
violin. She has played extensively for the Los Angeles Opera, the LA Mozart Orchestra, and in
numerous film scores.
Angela Brand, Harpsichord
Dr. Brand teaches at CBU and performs regularly in Southern California as a harpsichordist,
pianist, and conductor. Both she and Professor Moore have played internationally.

Marilyn Chandler McEntyre, a professor of medical humanities at the UC-Berkeley-UCSF Joint

Sojourners, Literature and Medicine, Christianity Today, and various other academic trade
publications. Her books include Caring for Words in a Culture of Lies (2009), What’s in a
Phrase? Pausing Where Scripture Gives You Pause (2014), A Faithful Farewell: Living Your
