AP Human Geography Summer Assignment 2016-2017
A large part of being successful in AP Human Geography is having a base knowledge of the globe, important places,
important physical features, and key terms. You will need to complete the work in this packet over the summer in order
to help you learn these skills. During the first Six Weeks (typically week two or three), you will have to take a test over
content material of this packet. Make sure not to leave it until the end of the summer to complete the assigned work.
Looking forward to seeing you all in class next year!
Mrs. Ayers (MacArthur HS), Mr. Emerson (Nimitz HS), Ms. McAbee (Jack E. Singley Academy), & Mr. Winter (Irving HS)

Acrostic Poem
On a piece of paper or in a Google Document, write a concept or term from this topic that
you struggle with vertically on the page. Use the letter from the term as the first letter in
a word or phrase related to that topic in order to create a poem.
Cartoon Strip
Create a six-pane cartoon strip about a concept in this unit. It should contain at least 3
vocabulary words related to the concept.
Haiku
Pick a concept that you do not know well from this topic. Read up on the topic. Create a
Haiku poem for this topic. Haikus are written as three lines. The first is 5 syllables, the
second 7 syllables, and the third 5 syllables. Your Haiku should clearly demonstrate your
mastery of the topic.
Limerick

format of a limerick (along with use of terms in the correct context) will be strictly
adhered to.
