This chip must be returned at the end of the race as you leave the course. If you do not skate or finish the race, you may turn in your chip at the finish line or return the chip by mail. The fee for a non-returned chip is $110. Please start in your assigned wave. If you start in any other wave for any reason, please inform a race organizer at the information booth by leaving a note with your bib# and the conditions that led to your situation. Timing errors occur when skaters 'jump' waves. Some situations may be cause for disqualification. NEW FOR 2012: 13.1 mi timing split. If a skaters’ wheels enter a tar snake, the skate may decelerate rapidly or stick momentarily and cause an unsafe condition for the skater. To skate “across” a tar snake is generally unnoticeable. As the race course enters the Interstate-35 section, the shoulders of the road will contain sewer grates. Avoid skating on the shoulders of the road from that point on. WATER: Water will be available at the start lines and water bottles at water stations along the course at 6 miles (both sides of the road), 14, 17, 21, 23 miles (right side). If you slow or stop at a water station, please stay to the right to avoid collisions and congestion. Please make every effort to discard water bottles in the mile marker/trash barrels prior to the interstate or carry it with you until the finish. Bottle caps dropped on the road are dangerous for following skaters. The NSIM does not supply food or energy replacement products on the course.
