of Pompeii where you can see Baths, Forums and Villas built by

Our journey takes us along the gorgeous coastal road through
Castellammare di Stabia and out along the highway to Herculaneum.
Herculaneum was destroyed along with Pompei in 79 AD, and
rediscovered in 1709. It was a residential town without Pompei's
commercial importance, surrounded by the villas of the wealthy Romans.
When the catastrophe of 79 AD occurred Herculaneum was submerged
under a torrent of mud and lava that hardened into a soft tufa (a kind of
course rock) that preserved many of the timber features and household
objects which can be seen today. A large portion of the old Herculaneum
is still buried under the modern town and even today excavations are
going on to discover what trea- sures lie buried under the rock, to the
extent that some families are being rehoused so work can continue.

Depart Sorrento and travel to Castellammare, join motorway
at Castellammare and arrive at Herculaneum. It
was a
residential coastal town which has been superbly preserved
due to the fact that it was covered in Volcanic mud during

people the chance to view the town from above before
heading down and beginning the guided tour which lasts
about an hour. The buildings have been so well preserved
that you can walk down the streets pretty much exactly as

Departing Sorrento the coach joins the Amalfi Coastal Road
“One of the most scenic Coastal Drives in Europe”. The
scenery is superb, looking out over the bay of Naples and
Salerno and along the coastline as the road twists and turns its
way towards “Positano” (approx. 20 minutes from Sorrento).
The town is built on different levels from the main road all the
way down to sea level “The town of Positano looks like a
waterfall cascading down the rocks to the sea”. The coach stops
momentarily here so guests can enjoy the view and take photos
(from inside the coach when possible). This spectacular journey
continues with fabulous views all the way to Amalfi
(approximately 1 hour – arrive in Amalfi around 11am
depending on traffic). Guests have 2 hours free time in Amalfi
(optional boat guided tour by sea when possible. - availability
and weather conditions permitting -), where they can visit “the
magnificent 9th century Cathedral which proudly dominates the
main square of Amalfi” and “wander through the narrow streets of the town and browse around the many shops” or “enjoy

village of Scala Pontone from where there are excellent views over Ravello and the Amalfi Coast.
The excursion carries on to “Ravello” for approx 1.15 hours which is situated on the hillside above Amalfi. This is where
Wagner was inspired to write part of one of his opera’s and it is from here that you can enjoy the best views of the Amalfi
coastline looking over to Minori, Maiori and beyond. This quaint little town has a main square where the centerpiece is the
bright picturesque eleventh century cathedral. This is where customers have the chance of arranging something to eat, sit
and enjoy a coffee or ice cream in the square before venturing off to explore Ravello’s narrow streets. Another option is to
visit the Villa Rufolo with it’s gardens and wonderful views. For the journey back to Sorrento we head over the hills from
where we take the motorway to Castellammare and then back on the coastal road to Sorrento (due to driving restrictions to
return back along the Amalfi drive)

island dominated by Mount Epomeo. Our tour takes you over to Ischia
by hydrofoil - a journey of just over 45 minutes across the Bay of
Naples. On arrival free time to enjoy the shops, then coach tour round
island. Stopping at Picco S. Angelo. Optional visit to Thermal Park.

GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS AGREEMENT
BOOKING - CONFIRMATION
All tours have to be booked to Gartour by by e-mail ([email protected]) or through our web site www.gartour.it. Some tours
are on Free Sale basis (with automatic confirmation) while other tours/excursion are on request and can be considered valid
only after our booking confirmation. Upon confirmation we will inform meeting time and meeting point meeting point to join the
tour.
PRESENTATION AT MEETING POINT
Tours in Sorrento do not include pick-up service from hotel. For this reason we strongly recommend to all clients to be in time
to meeting points in order to not loose the tour (usually meeting time is 10-15 minutes prior departure).
No reimbursement wil be granted to any client who is not at the place of departure at the time established . Similarly,
no reimbursement will be granted to client who lose contact with the guide or who do not complete th e
tour/excursion.
CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS
It may happen that, due to operational difficulties or reasons beyond our control (travel conditions, strikes, changes in
opening hours, closure of museums, delay or other problems) the tours companies may be forced to change or cancel the
tour in program. Tours companies reserve the right to cancel a tour without prior notice due to reasons beyond their control
with the only obligation of reimbursing the cost of the tour. In this case, clients may claim reimbur sement only of the sum they
paid for. In the event of unforessen schedule or itinerary changes beyond control, tour companies reserve the right to give no
reimbursement for the money paid.
LIABILITY
Gartour/Tours companies are not responsible for any loss of personal valuables, luggages or objects during excursions, or for
any loss of personal items which are left on tour buses, or for any damage casued by third parties to personal items during
the tour. We are not also responsible for partial or total closure of museums, monuments and churches, delays or
irregularities caused by third parties. Then an alternative itinerary and visits to other museums wil be proposed, without an y
variation to the established tariff, and client will be informed prior to departure. In the event of unforeseen schedule or
itinerary changes beyond control, tour companies reserve the right to give no reimbursement for the money paid.
CANCELLATION POLICY
For all Tours in Sorrento and Surroundings following cancellation policy will be applied:
- For cancellation made within 4 working day prior departure: no penalty.
- For cancellation made during last 72 hours prior departure or for no-shows: 100% penalty.
COMPLAINTS
Any complaint by the client must be communicated in writing to Gartour within and no later than 10 working days after the
date of the tour. After this therm we are not obliged to check complaints sent with delay and no evenutual rembursement will
be approved.
