Please notify staff of any medical conditions. All participants are required to complete a “Fit Parks! City Parks Fitness Program Registration/Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire” to have on file (updated yearly) What do I wear? • Wear loose-fitting clothing and comfortable rubber-soled shoes (Must be dry). How do I register? • • Fee-based programs require pre-registration. Complete a registration form/waiver and make checks payable to “Commissioner of Finance”. Your paperwork and payment can be turned in at the Magnarelli Community Center (at McChesney Park). City residents receive priority registration. An updated “Fit Parks! City Parks Fitness Program Registration/Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire” needs to be on file and updated yearly. Please come early to the first class to complete it or, verify we have an updated form on file. Non-fee programs are first come, first serve. Space may be limited in order to maintain a safe and secure environment. An updated “Fit Parks! What do I need to bring? • Participants must provide their own equipment, if required (yoga mat, hand weights, etc). Please read the program descriptions to verify required equipment. What do I do when I arrive at the Magnarelli Community Center? • Daily sign-in is required at the front office window for all programs. Staff will be on hand to assist you with any questions you may have before the start of each program. Program Listings Program Name: Zumba Gold Description: Zumba Gold® is based on the international Latin-inspired rhythms of basic Zumba, but in a modified version and lower intensity which incorporates many of the dance/fitness routines set to Latin and international rhythms. Routines are geared towards active senior adults. Exercise and dance for fun - “Ditch the workout, join the party!” It’s exercise in disguise. Instructor: Jennifer Dennison, Zumba/Zumba Gold certified Location: Gymnasium Dates: Ongoing; Seven (7) to Eight (8) week sessions scheduled throughout the year (Jan.-Feb.; March-Apr; May-June; July-August; Sept.-Oct; Nov.-Dec.) Program Name: Walking Description: A low-impact opportunity to walk inside a climate controlled atmosphere. Eighteen laps around and outside the black lines equals one mile. Program Name: One Mile Walking Description: A thirty (30) minute low to medium level aerobic exercise class - where participants follow the prompts from a video tape, to improve their cardiovascular system. Program Name: Yoga Description: Reap the benefits of slow moving gentle sequences, restorative postures, breathing and concentration practices. Participants report improvement from numerous stress related health issues, as well as improved balance, posture and sense of well-being. No prerequisite. Program Name: Stretch and Strengthen (Body Toning) Description: A chair-based yoga class of stretch and strengthen exercises to help slow the aging effects of osteoporosis and loss of motion. Through a well-planned stretching program, participant will increase their strength and range of motion through greater pain-free areas.
