PTA MEETING
It has been a while since our last newsletter, we are sure you will find something of interest in this issue. We
held our last meeting on Tuesday 13th May and it was great to see and meet some new faces. We will be
holding our next meeting on Tuesday 24th June. So mark it in your diaries now, and everyone is welcome. If

UPCOMING EVENTS
1. SCHOOL CENTENARY MASS
The PTA is looking forward to hosting the LUNCH Celebration after the 11am CENTENARIAN MASS this
SUNDAY 1 JUNE. It will be wonderful to celebrate with both present and past families of our school. We
currently have a running list of volunteers, but it would be most appreciated if you could respond to this
email/newsletter or text Jackie Hinchcliff (021 833 312) with what you are able to provide this Sunday as
this will allow us to have certainty. THANK YOU.
Catering Needs -- We will be at the hall beginning at 9:30am or you may drop off food that does not need
refrigeration at the school on Friday. Please bring a good-sized plate of the following:
 Junior School - Savouries
* Middle & Senior School - Sweets
We are also looking for these specifics:
 Coleslaw for sandwiches
 Additional sausage rolls
 Condiments: mustard and tomato sauce
 Large jugs of drinking water
Sunday hosting needs
 Set-Up: 9:30 - 11:00am
 Serving: After Mass. This will be serving tea & coffee; and general hosting throughout the lunch.
 Clean up

2. SAUSAGE SIZZLE
We are planning our next sausage sizzle on 26th June. Sausages are $1.50 each payable to your class
teachers in the morning. A reminder will be sent closer to the date.
2ND HAND UNIFORM
Thank you to everyone who supported our last 2nd hand uniform sale, we made a fantastic $947. If you have
any uniform to donate to our next sale please drop it into the office for us to collect. We would also ask that
those who promised to pay for uniform via internet banking and have still not yet done so, please make your
payment ASAP to St Marys Ellerslie PTA 12 3060 0221896 00. Your co-operation is appreciated. If you

PROPOSED QUIZ NIGHT FUNDRAISER
We are looking for a parent who can help up with obtaining a liquor licence for our proposed Quiz Night,
Saturday 16th August. We already have one person with a bar managers licence but we need another to put in
our submission to make sure it’s accepted! That person will also need to be there on the night.

ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS
There is still time to order your Entertainment Book! Thank you to the parents who have generously donated
the $13.00 profit rather than purchase the book. Digital Memberships to the Entertainment Book can still be
ordered online at

The Digital Membership operates as an app on up to 4 electronic devices. Great for sharing with the extended
family! If you still have a book at home that you do not intend to purchase PLEASE return to school

PORTABLE NETBALL GOALS
We have had a request in for 2 portable netball goals to be provided for all the boys and girls at St Marys who
play netball for our school. We have been quoted $99.95 each to purchase these. If anyone is interested in
funding part or all of this purchase we would love to hear from you via email [email protected]
PUZZLE/BOARD GAME REQUEST
Our teachers have let us know that they would love any donation of board games or puzzles (with no pieces
missing) for their class rooms. Coming into winter, indoor lunch time activities are always appreciated. If you
have any to donate please deliver them to an appropriate teacher.
END OF TERM 1 RAFFLE
We would like to acknowledge and thank ASB Ellerslie and Meadowfresh for donating some prizes for our last
raffle. If you, or your business has suitable raffle prizes, please contact us via email.

The Yummy sticker 2014 campaign is well under way. Please collect the Yummy stickers off the apples &
pears, & the tokens off the apple bags for our school to claim our share of the $200,000 worth of sports gear!!

CHURCH CLEANING
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help out with church cleaning this year. Your help is very much
appreciated. If you would still like to help out, please let us know on [email protected]
EMAIL CONTACT
If you have an email address that you have regular access to, please let us know so we can add you to our email
mailout list. We email out our newsletters and reminders for the week. This will save us time, money and
effort if we can email you instead of sending out paper copies. Also remember to let us know if your email
address has changed or if you have stopped receiving our emails for some reason. Thank you
PTA ROLES
The PTA are looking for some wonderful volunteers to take over some roles from current members wanting to
stand down. We would love some volunteers for the following:
 School Disco co-ordinator – usually scheduled for some time in Term 3 or 4. Full hand over from
previous co-ordinators available
 End of Term Raffle co-ordinator – source and organize raffle prizes along with arranging and managing
the roster of helpers to sell tickets on the last three days of Term. Needs to be available for the raffle
draw about half an hour before school ends on the last day of terms. Full hand over also available.
 Yummy Sticker co-ordinator – to manage our Yummy sticker campaign
 PTA Secretary – Jenny Fewtrell wishes to stand down after 4 years in the role at the next AGM held in
October.
 PTA Chairperson – Jackie Hinchcliff also wishes to stand down after 4 great years in this role at the next
AGM held in October.
