Examples: hydro chloride (g) • As an aqueous acid solution: – start with 'hydro-'. – change the anion name to end with '-ic'. – add the word 'acid' at the end. Examples: Hydrochloric-acid(aq) As soon as you see the aq, and the hydro you know that it is a binary acid. You take the hydro and start the formula off with H. Next you look at the next part of it to see what the anion is if it is bromide you put Br. Considering it is a binary acid you add the (aq) to the ending of the formula. All together you have HBr(aq). 1. Hydroselenic acid 2. Hydrophosphoric acid 3. Hydronitric acid 4. Hydroiodic acid 5. Hydroastatic acid 1. HCl(aq) 2. HF(aq) 3. H2S(aq) 4. HI(aq) 5. HBr(aq)
