A group of over 180 Comcast employees, and volunteers from Local LULAC
Councils, arrived early Saturday morning April 25th, and volunteered their
time and supplies to improve La Casa
de Amistad’s backyard, paint the inside of the building and clean the
neighborhood.
Comcast Cares Day is a Nationally
sponsored community outreach event.
This year, volunteers spent over 4
hours painting and improving La Casa
de Amistad and its neighborhood. The
children were right beside the adults,
working hard; digging and planting.
A new play set with a slide and a
tower was donated by La Casa’s employee. Lunch was kindly provided by
Comcast.
After a long day of painting, cleaning,
digging, and planting, volunteers
added the finishing touches to the
project. La Casa de Amistad and the
neighborhood are very satisfied with
the work done and send a heartfelt
thank you to all the volunteers involved in the April 25th , "Comcast
Day of Caring!"

State of La Casa de Amistad
¡Saludos!
It has been two years now and I have learned so very much from everyone, including and especially from our La Casa
de Amistad clients/families.
This year is our 35th anniversary year and we have coined a catchphrase, “La Casa Es Tú Casa”. Although the phrase is
simple it says exactly what I believe La Casa de Amistad is for the Michiana community. La Casa is “home”, it is a home
for all who are in need of guidance, support, leadership, advice, direction, and just plain friendship.
This newsletter does not have enough space for us to talk about everything we are doing but I would like for you to
have a glimpse at what is happening here in our small home and what is coming this summer. We are going through
some fantastic changes and our home is growing. Please feel free to contact us to see how you can be a part of it or if
you have questions.
Gracias,
Rebecca Ruvalcaba
