As is customary at this time o f y e a r , your volunteer firemen find i t necessary
to set up their program for the coming months. There are some obligations to be
m e t , such as a Benevolent Association, benefits for the sick and needy f i r e m e n ,
a Welfare Fund, and other expenses which are not provided for i n the operating
budget o f the Fire D i s t r i c t . Your interest and support of our A N N U A L F U N D
DRIVE in the past years has been instrumental in the successful operation of the
S.F.F.D.
During 1966, your volunteer firemen responded to 508 c a l l s . 184 were
Emergency calls and 324 were for fires and other miscellaneous c a l l s .
More than 100 of your neighbors are on c a l l 24 hours a day to serve y o u .
There are no tax privileges or other compensation given for this time c o n suming and hazardous w o r k .
Through the efforts o f the Department Training schedule, and the Fire
Inspectors, the losses due to fires in this district have been among the lowest
in Nassau C o u n t y .
In order for the volunteer firemen of the S . F . F . D . to continue to expand
their a c t i v i t i e s to serve y o u , we ask you to participate by m a i l i n g your check
as soon as possible.

Science Club held an open house in the crime laboratory, conducted a safety rodeo to test driving skills, and ran films on
auto safety and narcotics.
