Madras High School Unit Plan Subject: Fitness For Life Grades: 9th Semesters: Sem. 1 & 2 Unit of Study: Skill-Related Components of Fitness Pacing-Teaching: 16 Lessons (4 weeks) Assessment Pacing: Formative Assessment: Daily participation; record of results from all skillrelated fitness component exercises/workouts; and observations of student performance. Summative Assessment: 2- Knowledge & Vocabulary Quiz Essential Questions: 1. What are the skill-related fitness components of fitness? 2. Why are skill-related components of fitness important to athletes? 3. What are some examples of workouts/exercises that enhance each of the skillrelated components of fitness? Oregon Physical Education Standards: Demonstrates knowledge of a variety of motor skills. Understand an apply movement concepts. Understand and apply physical education vocab as it relates to movement concepts. Demonstrates knowledge of a physically active lifestyle. Understand the meaning of physical fitness and how person fitness can be improved and maintained using a health-related fitness assessment as one tool for measuring. Understand and apply safety in movement activities. Concepts (Need to Know) Skills Blooms Level 1. Complete practice standing-long jump, vertical jump, dot drill, 1, 2, 3 ladder and sprint tests and compare to pre-test results. 2. Complete agility, reaction time, power, speed, balance and coordination workouts/exercises and record results/improvements. 3, 4, 5 4*Blooms level: 1 -Remember, 2-Understand, 3-Apply, 4- Analyze, 5-Evaluate, 6-Create *Assessment levels: 1-Beginning to identify, 2- Developing simple knowledge & skills, 3 Proficient- demonstrates knowledge & skills along with applying details, 4- Mastery-demonstrates knowledge & skills along with analyzing, evaluating, and being able to create.
