How will the Magna Carta commemoration event on Monday 15 June impact the roads around Runnymede? On Monday 15 June 2015 a national commemoration event marking 800 years of Magna Carta will be held at Runnymede Meadows, attended by HM The Queen and other invited guests and dignitaries from the UK and around the world. There will be road closures, diversions and one-way restrictions applied temporarily in the Runnymede area from late on Saturday 13 June, throughout Sunday 14 June and for a large part of Monday 15 June: From 11pm on Saturday 13 June until 7am on Sunday 14 June The A308 Windsor Road will be closed between the Old Windsor Roundabout and the Runnymede Pleasure Ground and a signed diversion will be in place for vehicles arriving at the junction with Priest Hill and at the Runnymede Roundabout. From 7am to 11pm on Sunday 14 June The A308 Windsor Road between west of the Runnymede Pleasure Ground and the Old Windsor Roundabout will reopen on a one-way basis towards Old Windsor. Vehicles exiting the Runnymede Pleasure Ground will only be permitted to turn left towards the Runnymede Roundabout. Any vehicles wishing to travel east along Windsor Road from Old Windsor will be diverted via Priest Hill, St Jude's Road, Egham Hill and the Egham By-pass to the Runnymede Roundabout. Vehicles leaving the National Trust car parks at Runnymede during this period will be required to follow this one-way system and diversion. From 11pm on Sunday 14 June until as soon as possible after the event on Monday 15 June and not after 8pm The A308 Windsor Road will be closed between the Old Windsor Roundabout and the Runnymede Pleasure Ground and a signed diversion will be in place for vehicles arriving at the junction with Priest Hill and at the Runnymede Roundabout. From 7am - 12pm on Monday 15 June Magna Carta Lane, Wraysbury will be closed. Throughout the weekend access for residents and businesses located on the A308 Windsor Road and on Magna Carta Lane will remain open. Please note, the A308 Windsor Road and Magna Carta Lane are the only roads that are due to be closed. There are contingency plans in place for the closure of Coopers Hill Lane, Hollycombe, Middle Hill, Barley Mow Road and Victoria Street in Englefield Green, and for a number of local footpaths. However, these roads and footpaths would only be closed if deemed necessary for security and safety reasons. Parking There will be no on-street parking or stopping permitted on the roads listed below from 1am on Monday 15 June. If you usually park on one of these roads, please move your vehicle the night before.
