Every good story has 5 important parts. beginning build-up problem solution end It’s a bit like climbing a mountain, a story mountain. At the top of the mountain something happens, but you can’t go straight to the top. Stories need a build-up to the problem and a solution before the end. 3. Problem Something happens 2. Build-up 4. The beginning Everything is OK introduce the characters And there are many different types of stories to choose from… ‘Romance’ ‘Thriller’ use suspense ‘Detective’ solving a crime ‘Action’ lots happening ‘Science- fiction’ aliens, heroes? ‘Time travel ‘to the past ‘Comedy’ funny story ‘Mystery’ suspense ‘Fantasy’ with magic? ‘Horror’ scary story ‘Adventure’ The Story Start by drawing or writing a Storyboard. This shows the story in miniature helping you write a better story. The opening Introduce your characters, and location. The build up Get the story going by setting the scene, building up to the main problem. The problem Something goes wrong. What? The resolution The problem is solved. How? The end Everything is ok! How will you leave your characters? Descriptions using adjectives. When you write a story you will need to describe buildings, objects and people as well as what happens to make it interesting. Use lots of adjectives (describing words) to tell your story like the ones below.
