BLAIRSTOWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER www.blairstownelem.net March 31, 2017 Spring Edition UPCOMING EVENTS… Dear BES Families, Spring has finally arrived, albeit ever so slowly. Nevertheless, signs of spring are all around us! A great deal has occurred during the month of March, including Read Across America Day, All Star Band, First and Second Grade Musical & Art Gallery Show, and the Third Grade Living Museum Projects. But, that has not deterred our children from continuing to have great experiences in their classrooms academically and through our special events. We end the month with our Fourth Grade Musical performance and Art Show. Please be reminded that the third marking period has ended today and report cards will be issued shortly! Once again, I offer you important tips on discussing your child’s report card with them. Meet privately with your child, without distractions. Be sure you designate enough time. Be positive. Review each grade/subject and discuss what they mean (strength/weakness) Review/discuss other indicators on the report cards (behavior) Set goals for the next marking period (last one!) Help them plan “how” to achieve their goals. Remind them how proud you are of them and of their accomplishments. Give a hug, get a hug! I hope this information remains helpful to you. As always, if you have any questions after your discussion, you are always welcome to call your child’s teacher. Don’t forget to thank your child’s teacher for all of their efforts as well! They go to extraordinary lengths to care for all of our children! In addition, you will find April’s “Home & School Connection” accompanying this Newsletter. In it, you will find practical ideas that promote school success by learning things at home, effective tips for promoting patience, and positive ways in which you can be involved! Please remember….. “Teachers don’t just teach; they can be vital personalities who help young people to mature, to understand the world, and to understand themselves!” ~ Charles Platt ~ Sincerely, Bruce P.
