Who must file: All candidates seeking a political party’s nomination to run for office in a general election or special election, whether by primary or convention State Senate, State House of Representatives, countywide and less-than-countywide offices County of residence executive committee of your political party General Election: between noon, March 16 and noon, March 30 Special Election: between noon, the third Friday after the vacancy occurs and noon, 10 days later The county executive committee: Gives a copy to the candidate Keeps a copy Forwards a copy to the state executive committee, along with the filing fee, no later than five days after filing closes Forwards a copy to the County Election Commission no later than noon, 10 days after filing closes Statewide offices, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, and Solicitor State executive committee of your political party General Election: between noon, March 16 and noon, March 30 Special Election: between noon, the third Friday after the vacancy occurs and noon, 10 days later The state executive committee: Gives a copy to the candidate Keeps a copy Forwards a copy to the State Election Commission no later than noon, 10 days after filing closes If any dates listed above, except March 16 and March 30, fall on a Saturday, Sunday or a holiday, these statements must be filed by noon, the following day. Your name will not appear on the primary ballot or convention list of candidates unless your Statement of Intention of Candidacy has been filed by the deadline with the appropriate officials.
