NORTHAMPTON MUD INSTALLS AERZEN HYBRID
Northampton MUD in North Houston has recently completed installation of two
Aerzen Delta Hybrid Rotary Lobe Compressors. This
unique design is the result of synergy between rotary
lobe blower and screw compressor technologies and
offers completely new possibilities for generating positive
pressure or vacuum by combining the technical
advantages of both concepts. Wire-to-process energy
usage reduction can exceed 30% over typical positive
displacement blowers depending on operating conditions
and turndown range. The project was designed by Jones
and Carter Engineers (Houston) and constructed by
Liftwater Construction Inc. (Cypress). Our scope of supply also included
Telescoping Valves by Online Engineering and Slide Gates by Hydro Gate.

PORT ARTHUR EXPANDS WATER PURIFICATION PLANT
The City of Port Arthur recently awarded a new contract for the expansion of its Water
Purification Plant. At the heart of the system are two new IDI SuperPulsator® Solids
Contact Clarifiers to be built alongside the first two units installed in 1997 and new
filters utilizing the Monoflor™ Underdrain System which is
a monolithic pour concrete/
nozzle bottom. The expansion
will provide 20 MGD additional
capacity to the facility. The
project was designed by
Arceneaux Wilson & Cole
(Port Arthur) and will be built
by Allco, Inc. (Beaumont). The
SuperPulsator® continues to
be a popular choice for sludge blanket solids contact
clarification with installations throughout our Texas and Oklahoma market for more
than 30 years.
INTRODUCING GEA 2H WATER TECHNOLOGIES
We welcome GEA to our lineup of product offerings. GEA
manufactures TUBEdek® Tube Settlers which are NSF approved
for drinking water and also the BIOdek® Biological Media for use
in trickling filters and other applications such as BNR and
tertiary treatment. All products
are manufactured with thermally welded polypropylene
and each module is a selfsupporting structure. Products
for the US market are made in
Houston, TX.
WE WELCOME JACOBI CARBON TO OUR LINE UP
As drinking water quality demand continues to increase, powdered and
granular activated carbon have always been viable options for not only
filtration but also in the clarification process of dissolved organics,
disinfection byproducts and taste and odor compounds. Jacobi Carbon
is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of activated carbon with
versatile sources of raw material such as coconut, wood, and lignite,
bituminous and anthracite coal. Check out their website at
www.jacobi.net where you will find a wide array of capabilities offered.
As we celebrate our Nineteenth holiday season we take a moment to thank all of our clients for
helping us achieve another successful year. We are truly blessed with the opportunity to work in this
industry with you and wish you and yours the very best in 2016!

HAVING TROUBLE MAINTAINING YOUR TARGETED DO?
If your aeration basins are struggling to maintain the required dissolved
oxygen (DO) levels you may need to address potential fouling of your
diffusers. Even though diffusers are designed for optimal use in typical
municipal wastewater, after a certain period of time degradation of the
membrane occurs and efficiency is lost. Xylem/Sanitaire offers a free service to end users interested in evaluation of the current condition of their
diffusers. Whether you do diffuser cleaning or replacement the pay-back on
energy savings is a simple justification to consider. Contact us to visit your
facility, retrieve some diffusers and we will test and provide a report…all free of charge!
