Learning Activities
Comparison of cultures/countries and the sound of the Spanish language by different native Spanish speakers. Each
presentation is done in Spanish and each speaker has a different accent or pronunciation of the language. Listen for
differences.
1. Students can prepare a few days before by looking up the country that is being presented and having an idea where
it is in the world, capital, etc. (In my class each student has been assigned a country at the beginning of the school year
and one of the 1st projects/papers that they do is on that country. They also present that to the class)
2. Go over etiquette and behavior during presentation whether it is in person or video conference.
3. Each student is encouraged to ask questions of the presenter.
4. Each student must take notes, specifically including three new things they learned from the presentation.
5. After the presentation, the students are asked questions to gauge their understanding and address any questions or
misconceptions.
Assessment (should include assessment of NC standards and global competencies)
Quiz or test using the information presented on the different countries. (Kahoot or a google quick quiz)
Informal assessment during class or on final exam. Padlet can also be used.
Reflections and Action Steps
This lesson will continue over several weeks as speakers from different countries will present either by being present in
class or through Skype, google hangout or other video conference format.
