No More Teachers

We finally had our last day of school. It
feels like just yesterday when it was the
first day of school. I am pleased that
summer is here. On the other hand, I'm
sorry to say goodbye to my friends. My
final year of high school was exciting. We
went on a field trip to an amusement park
for science class. We also did a class play
of Peter Pan. One of the best parts was
being on the newspaper committee. My
mom said it would be good for my resumé.
The editor encouraged me to start this
blog. The last few days of high school were boring. Teachers were busy organizing and writing
report cards. It seemed like we were all waiting for summer to arrive. How dull! Next year I will
have professors instead of teachers. High school was pretty simple, but university is going to be
tough. It has been such a busy year. I hope it's a relaxing summer. I plan to blog at least once a
week. My dad discouraged me from starting a blog. He thinks blogging will prevent me from
getting a job. Please leave a comment. Tell my dad that blogging is not a waste of time!

My Night Job

I got a new summer job! I'm a
waitress at the local Mexican
restaurant. The restaurant is
open late. This is good,
because I am not an early
bird. The earliest I will have to
go to work is 2:00 pm. The
latest I will have to work is
2:00 am. My dad always said
I was a night hawk. All of the
servers I work with are men!
The waiters are really nice,
but my boss, Ernesto, is a bit
mean. On my first day I dropped a glass. When I picked it up I cut my hand. Ernesto was
really angry. He told me to go home. My co-workers agreed that this was a bit cruel. On my
second day, I got a comment card from a satisfied customer. My boss was very pleased!
He gave me an extra shift. I'm going to work three weekdays and one weekend day each
week. The money I earn will help pay for textbooks for university. I'm so happy that I found a
job. This will give me something to blog about!

A Concert After All

I was really disappointed when my
boss said I had to work on
Saturday. There was a rock concert
I really wanted to go to. I think
Ernesto knew how bummed I was.
He changed the schedule at the
last minute. I didn't know how to
thank Pete for taking my shift!
(Pete is a waiter I work with.) I
decided to buy Pete a T-shirt at the
show. He laughed when I brought
him his gift. It was way too small
and he doesn’t like the Bleacher
Boyz. I told him to give his present
to his girlfriend. She's petite like
me. Usually concert T-shirts are
enormous, but the large ones
were all sold out. The best part about the concert was when the singer unplugged his guitar. I like acoustic
music better than electric music. I will have to work some extra shifts to pay my mom back for my ticket.
Maybe Pete will let me work for him next weekend. Thank you to Ernesto, Pete, and Mom for making my
dream come true. The Bleacher Boyz rocked!
