Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) Thanksgiving Celebration (Direct Service)
There is a lot to be thankful for this year at DWC. Join us as we give thanks as a community on
Thanksgiving Day with crafts, activities, serving a meal, hosting tables, and cleaning up.

United Way of Greater LA – Homewalk 2011
We are excited to announce registration for the 5thannual HomeWalk is now open! HomeWalk is United
Way’s annual 5K Run/Walk to raise awareness and funds to end homelessness. The walk will take place
Saturday, November 19th at Exposition Park. Over the past four years, HomeWalk has mobilized more
than 18,000 walkers, raised $1.7 million, and funded programs that have moved 9,000 people into
permanent housing. This year, we ask for your partnership in creating the largest, most impactful
HomeWalk to date.

Volunteers are needed to help with the food-packaging program, which provides canned foods and nonperishable items to the working poor, women with infants, children, and senior citizens throughout Los
Angeles County. Food packages include canned fruit, cereal, rice, and other non-perishable food items.
Take this opportunity to support the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank with a great hands-on event! Help
us help those in need in our community. Donations of these foods are greatly appreciated.

Park Planting with TreePeople
Join PricewaterhouseCoopers and TreePeople's Danny Carmichael at this idyllic Van Nuys park as we
plant 30 Flowering Cherry trees around a beautiful lake as part of a 100-tree planting project to celebrate
PWC's 100th anniversary! Once we're done with this project, the park will be so picturesque you won't
be able to get in without an easel and paint!
