Introduction
What are stem and leaf plot?
Stem and leaf plot is a type of data representation for
numbers, usually is like a table with two columns. Tens

Stems is the label for left and leaves
is the label for right.
How do we use the graph?
The "stem" values are listed down, and the "leaf" values go

The "stem" is used to group the scores and each "leaf"
indicates the individual scores within each group.
What do they look like?
They are basically a cross with
numbers of either side. Values
can be repeated as many times
according to your data.
When do we use it?
We usually used Stem and leaf when there are
large amount of number to analyze or analyzing
scores.
How do we use this plot to analyse?
To interpret this graph, the group together the
number on the left side and
ONE number in the right side.

Examples
Why use stem and leaf Plot?
Stem and leaf graphs are easy and convenient
to use. Datas are presented in a horizontal way
and it can be clearly seen in that way.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages
Disadvantages
Easy to keep scores
Not very visually interesting and attractive
Very simple to use
Might be messy after having too much data.
Can handle an extreme amount of data
Data samples with very small range and variance
can be difficult to break into meaningful or useful
categories.
Can show range, minimum and maximum
numbers easily
Real life application
In real life, people use them for analyzing large
amount number and analyzing scores.
- Scores on sport team
-Series of temperature
-Rainfall over a period of time
Conclusion
According to our presentation from above, we
can see that stem and leaf plots are easy to use
and convenient to analyze. The figures can be
read easily, especially when there is a whole lot
amount of data.
