“Fin”tastic Free Press Here are some questions to ask your child about what we’ve been working on this week… What is a fact family? Give your child the parts and whole. Can they come up with all of the facts? Ex. 4 +3 = 7, 3 + 4 = 7, 7-4 = 3. 7-3 = 4. As we mentioned at the Brown Bag, we’ve laid the foundation of what it means to add and subtract. We’re moving toward memorization of facts and will have more information for you next week regarding weekly math facts quizzes. What sound does the yak card make? /y/, y_ has to be at the beginning of a word/syllable How can you spell long a? open-syllable (a) and aCe What new ways did you learn to make the /s/ sound? ce (ci_ and cy_ to come next week!) What was this week’s spelling pattern? _ng and _nk...remember, they change the vowel sound! This week’s HFW words: around, eating, look, saw, some, together Where is the Arctic? What is the tundra like in the winter? In the summer? What are some animals you’d find in the Arctic? Brown Bag Recap Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Brown Bag meeting on Tuesday. We hope you found it helpful and informative! As we mentioned, we’ll be introducing a few new routines and expectations in the weeks ahead. We will do our best to communicate our expectations clearly...please let us know if you have questions. As with anything that’s new, please remember to take deep breaths...and remind your child to do the same. We’ll get there! :) Please be on the lookout for AR testing and math facts information! Write “fact family” in the planner for a reward! Thanks for reading!
