THE JOB: Programme and Events Manager

Your Role
Salary: £25,440
Base: Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl
Accountable to: Head of Venues
Accountable for: Supervison of Staff and Events
Working Hours: 37 hours (Monday—Sunday)
Basis: Fulltime
To manage, develop and co-ordinate the cultural events
and activities in Awen’s portfolio of venues, ensuring an
engaging, diverse and financially sustainable
programme. Also to lead on cultural development
initiatives and projects outside of the venues that meet
Awen’s charitable objectives around community
engagement and wellbeing.

What will you be doing

To source and book appropriate artists, arts events and activities, in consultation with the Head of Venues and other
senior staff, for Awen’s portfolio of venues including but not limited to theatres, libraries and the park
To develop a programme of arts development & audience development activities within the community that help
enhance people’s lives through culture by building effective relationships with schools, community groups and other
key stakeholders/partners
To be responsible for the programming budget through effective planning, forecasting and monitoring ensuring that
artistic objectives are always balanced by financial realities
To work closely with the Marketing & Development Team to implement effective audience development and
marketing initiatives to ensure optimum engagement with audiences
To prepare grant applications, sponsorship and fundraising proposals for programming and audience development
initiatives
To work closely with the Marketing & Development Team to develop and manage a robust monitoring and
evaluation system making best use of customer data to inform future programming decisions
To represent Awen Cultural Trust in relevant forums to ensure effective engagement with partners in the cultural
sector
To act as a Keyholder and Duty Officer ensuring the smooth running of events through effective supervision of staff,
artists and audiences in Awen’s venues
General Duties and Responsibilities

competence within job role.

Conditions of your appointment
Medical clearance - Any offer of appointment is subject to
medical clearance.
References - Two satisfactory references of which one should
be your last employer. Where possible, both should be from
previous employers.
Probationary period - New staff appointed to Awen Cultural
Trust will be subject to a 6 month probationary period.
Full Driving License - This post requires the successful
candidate to have a full driving licence.
Business travel – Use of your own vehicle for official journeys
is required.

Qualifications and Training

Degree level qualification or equivalent in an Arts
related subject or be able to demonstrate the
equivalent through experience (E)

Post-Graduate diploma in Arts Management or
Similar (D)

Full Driving Licence (E)
