Introduction
LOCOSYS AW-0707 is a System-in-Package (SiP) Module that integrates Atheros AR6003G
802.11b/g/n WiFi solution. This embedded module is optimized for the size, performance and power
consumption needed for mobile and embedded devices. With its tiny footprint and energy-saving qualities, the
AW-0707 rounds out Atheros’ comprehensive Align® ecosystem of 1-stream 802.11n solutions, targeting
tablet PC, mobile gaming and portable consumer electronic devices.
The new ROCm® AR6003 enhances its rate-over-range performance above the coverage improvements
inherent in the 802.11n MAC and PHY, by leveraging advanced optional 11n features such as Space Time
Block Coding (STBC) and low density parity check (LDPC). In addition, the AR6003 features Atheros
Universal Wireless Cooperation™, a suite of advanced wireless coexistence techniques to significantly
enhance the simultaneous operation of WLAN and Bluetooth on a mobile device.

6.2 Low-Frequency/SLEEP/32 KHz Clock for WLAN
The 32KHz clock is used in low-power modes such as IEEE power-save and sleep. It
serves as a timer to determine when to wake up to receive beacons in various power-save
schemes and to maintain basic logic operations when in sleep:
If the end application has a more accurate 32.768KHz clock, then it can be supplied
externally via the pin34 CLK32K.
If an external 32kHz clock is used, the requirements are as follows:
Figure 6-2 and below table show the pin34 optional external 32.768 KHz input clock
timing requirements.

6.3 Reference Clock for WLAN
The AW-0707 requires an external reference clock input. Supported frequencies for this
clock are 19.2, 24, 26, 38.4, 40, and 52MHz. The default frequency supported by software is
26MHz. When using a TCXO, the clock signal is input at the XTALO pin and must be
AC-coupled using a 0.01uF capacitor. The XTALI pin must be tied to GND when using a
TCXO.
Figure 6-4 and Table show the external 19.2/24/26/38.4/40/52 MHz reference input clock
timing requirements. The reference clock requirements are as follows:
