MARATHON ATHLETE
Mrs Sannette Gibson, our Executive Manager, not
only manages the school like a tight ship, she is also an
acclaimed Half Marathon athlete and member of the
Strand Athletics Club.
So far her 2014 highlight was the Cape Town
Marathon of 21 September, where she completed the
42,2km in 4 hours 21 minutes. And if this was not
enough, she quickly ran the 21km “Gun Run” half
marathon on 12 October, together with 20 080 other competitors. She
and Zelda Gooderham did the 21,1km “Grape Run” in Constantia on 18
October and Sannette says, “It was fantastic running all the way through
the vineyards.”
Congratulations, Mrs Gibson and thank you for your excellent example!

CLEVER BOY!
Frederik Moolman in Grade 1 started doing
SEMAS Maths last term and recently took part
in die Western Cape Regional competition in
Durbanville.
He had to do 2 Maths papers: The first without
his abacus and the second one with his abacus.
The questions were quite difficult and he had to
do long train sums with mixed plus and minus
calculations. Frederk did very well and was
awarded a bronze medal.
Congratulations, Frederik!

WE GO CAMPING!
Let’s go off where there are no bars,
And spend the night out under the stars
Get away…
For a day…
Or so…
We’ll build a fire from a little spark,
Catch some fish before it gets too dark,
So hey…
Whatta ya say…
Let’s go.
Thanks to the teachers
who organised
everything and went
with us to Grabouw.
From 1 to 3 October, the Grade 5,6 and
7 classes went camping at True North,
Applecreek, Mizpah Farm in Grabouw.
Everyone came back and told us how
much fun they had and how much they
had learnt.
“This was the best camp by far!”
Danny Bryant, Grade 7
“All the activities were so much fun. I realised that you can have more
fun outdoors than indoors.” Connor Beel, Grade 5
Relax
and
Work...
“First we played games and I thought it was going to be boring, but I was proved
wrong. The next day we went kayaking and it was a wonderful experience boating
across the waters, not a worry in the world.” Tomas Holdsworth, Grade 5.
“Dit was baie lekker om met die kajakke te roei. Ek en Ayabonga het vir Ella
en Danny sommer vir die pret nat gespat!” Edgar Cloete, Grade 6
“I really liked our camp leader and how he taught us to work together.”
Ella van den Bogaert, Grade 7
“If had another chance, I would like to go on the river raft again.”
Nadine Hoogenboezem, Grade 7
“We were taught that life is not about phones and T.V. It is about learning and
knowing about team work.” Tiree Turner, Grade 5
“Ons het dinge gedoen wat ons gedink het ons nie sal kan doen nie.”
Nicola Steele, Grade 6
“Ek kan dit nie glo nie, ek het my eerste berg geklim! Ek wonder hoekom het
die juffrouens nie saam met ons gestap nie?” Angelo Asaro, Grade 6
“Die twee beste kosse was die hamburgers en die potjiekos.”
Rory McCleod, Grade 6
Go well...
Bright sides up!!
Good bye!
