CM BYE-PAC BOOSTERS
The Grundfos CM BYE-PAC range of packaged booster sets
with skid mounted cold water storage tank are designed for
pumping clean water. Typical applications include:

• Boosting to pressurised hot and cold water systems in
domestic and commercial premises.
• Irrigation systems.
• Water transfer applications.
The CM BYE-PAC sets incorporate the Grundfos CM stainless
steel horizontal multistage end suction pumps. CM pumps
provide a compact, cost effective and reliable solution for
pressure boosting and transfer applications.
The CM BYE-PAC sets are available for single phase 240V and
three phase 415V operation with a 50 gallon or 100 gallon WRAS
approved storage tank with Type AB Air Gap. The weir is sized in
accordance with the Water Regulations.
The CM BYE-PAC is ready for installation to the system, requiring
only a mains water and electricity supply. All necessary isolating
and non return valves are included.
The pump is on/off controlled by the PM2 pump controller which
features dry running protection.
OPERATION
The Grundfos PM2 pressure manager is a compact pump
on/off controller, incorporating a pressure and flow sensor, and
non-return valve. The flow sensor prevents on/off cycling of the
pump while there is a flow demand, which helps prevent water
hammer. A pressure vessel is incorporated to make up for
small leaks on the system. The cut-in pressure setting is
selectable in 0.5 bar steps from 1.5 bar to 5 bar. The pump is
stopped when the pressure rises by 0.5 bar above the cut-in
pressure, and the flow demand has stopped.
The PM2 incorporates protection against dry running and
excessive starts. The red alarm indicator illuminates if the
pump has stopped due to a fault condition. The PM2 can be
set to be manually or automatically reset.

The table gives the pump duty pressure in Bar at the best
efficiency point, and closed valve pressure at zero flow. For
example a CM 3-5 gives 3.4 bar at 0.9 l/s and has a closed
valve pressure of 4.5 bar. For specific pump performance

INSTALLATION
TECHNICAL DATA: CM PUMPS
1. The CM BYE-PAC should be sited in a dry, well ventilated
but frost-free position where it will not be subjected to
extremes of temperature.
2. The unit should be installed on a solid surface to adequately
support its weight, and to help reduce noise/vibration.
3. The environment should be non-aggressive and the
atmosphere non-explosive.
4. Attention should be given to the possibility of water leakage
from the unit during commissioning or service activities, in
order to prevent possible damage to the surrounding area.
5. In accordance with the Water Regulations a minimum of 1m
of 15mm pipe should be used to connect the mains water
supply pipe to the BYE-PAC.
6. A pressure reducing valve can be included after the outlet to
regulate the discharge pressure, as the pump pressure can
rise up to the pumps closed valve pressure.

ELECTRICAL DATA CM
It is not recommended to fit the CM in a loft or attic space.
PM2 CONTROLLER
The switch settings within the PM2 controller are factory set;
there is no need to change the settings. The standard factory
positions are show below. Switch positions 1, 2 & 3 determine
the cut-in pressure setting.

Minimal maintenance of the CM BYE-PAC is required.
Periodically the pre-charge pressure of the 8 litre tank should
be checked.
