The Challenge: Skult hairdresser’s salons had problems with shrinkage. The loss of expensive hair care products was increasing. The chain wanted to find out how and when these instances occurred to avoid the substantial costs associated with the loss of products. The Milestone video software manages 11 AXIS network cameras throughout Skult’s salons, their hairdressing school and their warehouse. All video footage is saved on HP Proliant Servers and Microsoft Servers. 2014 MILESTONE CUSTOMER STORY Less shrinkage thanks to Milestone Hair salon chain Skult has eight salons across five cities in Sweden. They also run a hairdressing school called ‘Skult Education’ to train some of the most skilled hairdressers. Unfortunately, Skult was experiencing shrinkage in their selection of high quality haircare products. “We were losing money every time there was loss in our stock of products. We really needed to step in and do something about it,” says Maria Jörgensen, CEO and owner of Skult. To solve their problem, Skult consulted with integration partner GH data who recommended them to go with a Milestone network solution. They set up Axis digital cameras at every Skult salon, at Skult Education, and at their central warehouse. The surveillance system gave Skult the ability to monitor all salons to check suspicious behavior. They wanted to ensure that all deliveries of haircare products were received at the cash register in each salon, and they also wanted visible security cameras to help prevent the product shrinkage. ”After installing the Milestone video management system, losses at our salons have dropped drastically. Improving shop design with mobile security Skult is also using their security system to make sure that all salons have the same look and feel. They want to ensure that all customers get the same experience at every salon. Alignment of window displays and interior decorations at the stores are an important part of that. It is key that the interior environment at the salons reflects the inspiring and high-quality service that customers can expect at Skult. “The look and feel of our salons is very important. That is also why I am thrilled that the cameras have a stylish design which fits well into our brand,” says Maria Jörgensen. Skult can monitor and administer the different locations both centrally and remotely using the Milestone Mobile client. “If I want to, I can check up on my salons when I sit at home. Then I can call the store right away if decorations at the store need to be changed, for example. It is great to have such flexibility,” says Maria Jörgensen. Skult immediately receives a notification if an incident occurs and they can then view images from the cameras no matter where they are located. Thanks to remote access, Skult can take necessary action exactly where and when it is needed. Open platform future-proofs the solution Skult wanted a security system that was easy to install and could be integrated with their existing IT infrastructure. Moreover, they wanted a system that was scalable for possible future expansions.
