BIELLA YARN BY SÜDWOLLE Srl acquires fancy yarn producer HF FILATI SpA


Operation which will allow Biella Yarn to diversify the product portfolio even further with an
increased offer of fancy yarns.
The company will be managed directly by Biella Yarn srl, as an independent unit, in Schio.
Verrone, (Biella, Italy) – 25 January 2016 – Biella Yarn by Südwolle Srl announced today to have signed an
agreement for the acquisition of the HF FILATI SpA division (Orlandi Group) producer of fancy yarns. The
operation will take place through the newly created company “HF Filati by Südwolle Srl” fully controlled by
the Italian company Biella Yarn by Südwolle Srl. The new-company will be run directly by the management
of Biella Yarn and the aim is to guide the development of the company towards an international
perspective in cooperation with Südwolle Group.
With this acquisition, Biella Yarn widens its product range even further as well as its capacity of answering
to the customers need, intensifying its presence in the Italian and European market.
HF Filati Spa is a company born in 1963 and is part of the Orlandi Group since 1985, generating the biggest
part of its turnover in Italy. The intention is therefore to start off a new expansion phase of HF FILATI’s
product offer within and outside Europe.
Biella Yarn by Südwolle Srl
Being an Italian company with head office in Verrone (Biella - Italy) it develops, produces and trades the
Group’s products and brands. It is managed by Mr. Davide Marcante and in year 2014 it has developed a
turnover of abt. 24 million Euro (65% of which in Italy and 35% abroad). The sale of the yarns is aimed
mainly at the market of flat knitting, but also for weaving, circular knitting and socks.

HF Filati
The company was established in 1963 and since 1985 it was controlled by the Orlandi Group. In 2015 it
achieved 4 million € revenues with two product lines (HF and LORIS), selling mainly knitting yarns in Italy.
Mr. D. Marcante, Managing Director of Biella Yarn and the New Company declared: “This operation
represents a further step for the differentiation of our business. Our customers will have the possibility to
benefit of an increased know-how and product portfolio in the international yarn market”.
The new Operational Manager, Mr. A. Gaia (already part of the group) expresses his satisfaction and
enthusiasm for this new challenge, which offers good growth possibilities.
Mr. G. Randazzo, former managing director of HF will remain and consult the transition of the company. He
declares to be extremely satisfied with Biella Yarn’s choice, which will allow HF Filati to continue working
towards innovation and research in the fancy yarn sector in an international perspective.
The finalization of the operation is expected in the next few weeks.
