Noah Webster Christian School Weekly Word www.noahwebsterchristianschool.com November 14, 2016 “3O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth forever. 4To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth forever.” Psalm 136:3&4 A Note from the Principal: Over seven hundred pies later our task was completed on Saturday around 3:00 pm. Thank you to everyone who came and worked. We had teachers, parents, grandparents, friends, co-workers, past Noah staff and students. Now we are on to the task of getting the pies to the people who purchased them. Pies need to be picked up either today, Monday, November 7th or tomorrow, Tuesday, November 8th. See your email for pickup times. We do have a few extra pies to sell. Let Mrs. Harris know in the office if you are interested in one or more. Just a heads up about the school schedule for the remainder of 2016. Next week is a full week of school. The following week is Thanksgiving Break. We are again taking the whole week off for break (Nov. 21st-25th). Once we return from Thanksgiving break, we have three weeks of school until Christmas break. On Thursday, December 8th at 7:00 pm, we will have our Christmas concert. Students from Kindergarten through 6th grade will be presenting musical numbers along with our school band. Lou Gates will pick up the boxes from the school and transport them to the local collection center. Christmas Baskets This year will be our eighth annual Christmas Basket fundraiser. The Christmas baskets are auctioned off at the Christmas concert scheduled for Thursday, December 8th. Each class will decide upon a theme this week and have a signup sheet on their doors for suggested items needed. Items for the baskets are due on Wednesday, November 16th. Mrs. McDowell will then prepare the baskets to be available for viewing and bidding the week of Christmas concert. Hearing Screening Audiologist from Laramie County School District 1 will be at Noah on Thursday, November 10th to do hearing screenings for students in grades K, 1, 2, 3, and 5 and new students in grade 4. Maverik’s Give Stuff Friends, family and coworkers can donate their Trail Points from Maverik’s Adventure Club card and Nitro card to the school. Just go to www.maverik.com/home/account/rewar ds.html and choose “spend ‘em”. A screen will pop up with a red oval in the middle that says “spend your trail points here”. Click on the red oval then click on “give stuff”. A screen should pop up listing various organizations you can give to. Look for the school and click on it. You will then indicate the number of points you would like to give that are available on your card. Ten thousand trail points equates to $100. We have plenty of Adventure Club cards in the office if you are interested in participating. You receive a free fountain drink for activating the card. Giving Tuesday We’ve got black Friday and cyber Monday. How about Giving Tuesday? Giving Tuesday will be Tuesday, November 29th. If you would like to participate, any money raised will be applied against the $200 donation amount each family is required to raise. Participants can give online through the school’s website. A donor will need to indicate what family they are giving for so the proper credit can be applied. More information will be emailed by the end of the week. 1st Grade: (Mrs. Cooper) Bible: 1 Samuel 2:3 due Friday Arithmetic: 1st: -8 family, before/after by 1 and 10, ruler to ½ inch, nickels, pennies, dimes, combining dollars, quarters, nickels and pennies, yard, time to hour, shapes, graphing, am, pm, ½, ½ of group Phonics: 1st: Charts 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, ang, ing, ong, ung, ank, ink Spelling: List 6: bless, will, well, bell, doll, you, of, cuff, puff, stuff, sniff, cross Language: opposites, sentences, capitalizing 1st word, rhyming, compound words Science: nervous system: eye and ear Penmanship: Zz, numbers 2nd Grade: (Mrs. Cooper) Bible: 1 Samuel 2:3 due Friday Arithmetic: +11 family, even/odd, right/left, bar graph, place value, story problems , ¼, ¼ of a group, addition with carrying, combining dimes and pennies, nickels and pennies, inch/foot/yard, time to 5 minutes, carrying to hundreds, measuring to 1/4 Phonics: Charts 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, dge, g, al-, be-, en-, un-, accented syllable Spelling: List 11: cook, look, brook, shook, foot, wood, good, stood, bookmark, too, soon, food, pool, school, toothbrush, loose, lose, move, flood, took Language: sentences, verbs –past and present, irregular (tell, give, sing, see, go, do), homophones, alphabetical order, couplets, shape poem Penmanship: couplet, cursive I, e, t, l Science: nervous system: eye and ear 3rd Grade: (Mrs. Cooper) Bible: 1 Samuel 2:3 due Friday Spelling: List 12: her, church, first, birthday, third, serve, hurt, turning, thirst, verse, skirt, burned, squirm, nurse, songbird, mercy, large, before, very, every, nectarine Math: dividing by a two digit quotient.
