Adirondack Shakespeare Company is a professional
group performing classical theatre for all ages.
Founded in 2008, the company has performed all
along the eastern seaboard but is proud to call the
Adirondacks home.
We have presented more than twenty full
productions since 2008, as well as three original
plays for children. Since 2010, ADK Shakes has
produced a summer festival based in Schroon Lake,
but also touring to Lake Placid, Glens Falls, Indian
Lake, Long Lake, and more. Our acting company is
fully professional and made up of actors from
around the country and the world.
We are proud to offer co-curricular educational
tours for the first time this year, thanks in part to
the Charles R. Wood Foundation.

† THE COURSE OF TRUE LOVE ¢
An original play featuring scenes, sonnets, and
songs by Shakespeare on the theme of “true love.”
Introduce your students to some of the Bard’s
greatest works: Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, A
Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, Twelfth Night,
and more.
Design your own presentation. We
can include scenes from the plays
your students are reading in class!
Shakespeare IN THE RAW
For Middle & High School Students
What is Shakespeare IN THE RAW?
An hour-long presentation of scenes, sonnets,
and songs treating on the theme: “the course of
true love never did run smooth.” Two
professional actors perform selections from
Shakespeare’s greatest plays: A Midsummer Night’s
Dream, Macbeth, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and
others.
Peter O’Toole described the business of theatre
as bare boards and a passion. ADK Shakes is
dedicated to rescuing theatre from “concepts”
and restoring that passion to the works of the
world’s greatest playwrights by focusing on what
matters most: the words.
An interactive talk-back may be scheduled
following the performance so students may ask
the actors questions about learning lines,
rehearsing, technique, etc.
Workshops are available at the classroom level.
Focuses offered include verse speaking/poetry,
mask work, stage combat, staging principles,
monologues, scene work, sonnets, improv, or
specific play titles.
