Parents,
We have begun our formal word study program. I will be sending spelling lists home each week so that
you can work on the words with your child. I will also include a list of activities that your child can
complete for extra practice and for extra credit for word study. This will not be a required homework
assignment from me, but I highly encourage your child to complete these exercises for extra practice.
Your child will highlight the group that he/she is studying. If you have questions about the group, please
let me know.
I would like to remind you that some of the words on the spelling test will not be on the list that I send
home. We are testing patterns in spelling and sounds, not memorizing a list of words to be recalled each
week. Your child should focus on these sound and letter patterns when working on these words at home.
