WELCOME
From Seattle Theatre Group, a non-profit arts organization
Tonight we celebrate the end of our 2015/2016 KeyBank Broadway at The
Paramount Season with our final show, MOTOWN THE MUSICAL! We could not be
more excited to welcome this record-breaking smash hit that tells the incredible
story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to the
heavyweight music mogul who shattered barriers, shaped our lives and made us
all move to the same beat.
As our current season comes to an end, we look ahead to our upcoming
2016/2017 STG season and an exciting lineup of performances that aim to
continue to connect all members of the community with life-changing access to
artists, mentors, and experiences on and off the stage.
Next season, our incredible Dance Series features five performances, each
dynamic in their own right. First up is Dorrance Dance with Toshi Reagon &
Biglovely in “The Blues Project,” an innovative evening of rhythm, original live
music, explosive energy, and raw emotion. In association with On the Boards,
Company Wayne McGregor will perform “Atomos,” a hauntingly beautiful work
by cutting-edge contemporary choreographer Wayne McGregor. Batsheva Dance
Company, one of the foremost contemporary dance companies in the world,
comes to The Paramount to perform choreographer Ohad Naharin’s “Last Work.”
Rounding out the series are return appearances by the acclaimed Dance Theatre
of Harlem and Emmy Award®-winning choreographer Travis Wall’s Shaping
Sound.
STG has also invited the National Theatre of Scotland back to Seattle to stage its
must-see major production of Let the Right One In. Tony® and Olivier® Awardwinning director John Tiffany heads up a world-class creative team for a stage
adaptation of the Swedish novel and film by John Ajvide Lindqvist, which tells
the story of a lonely, bullied teenage boy who befriends the new girl next door,
leading to a series of sinister killings that shock the neighborhood. This truly rare
piece of theatre is an enchanting, brutal vampire myth and a coming-of-age love
story that cannot be missed.
Throughout the season, STG presents local, national, and international music
artists featuring masters of various genres, as well as innovative up-and-comers.
Stars from the world of broadcasting also take the stage, including A Prairie Home
Companion’s Garrison Keillor, who offers an evening of insight and stories from
his journey as one of America’s greatest storytellers. Bassem Youssef, Egyptian
satirist and former host of the popular TV show AlBernameg, comes to The Moore.
We also welcome back our ever-popular Silent Movie Mondays, featuring the two
series Love Stories and Comedy Classics, as well as a special Halloween screening
of the 1922 classic “Nosferatu.”
We are excited and eager to have all of you back next season for this amazing
lineup of artists and invite you to learn more about our upcoming season by
visiting our website at www.stgpresents.org!

Who’s Who
A Note from Berry Gordy
At Motown, we called ourselves a family and
we were—a big family. While it is impossible to
list here the many people who helped Motown
with their love and passion, I personally want
to thank them all. Their dedication and talent
contributed to our success, as well as helped
to inspire me to bring our story to Broadway.
Motown was a dream that happened to come
true, and it’s all because of you. Thank you.

In March 2014, Disney Theatrical Group
invited Seattle Theatre Group to launch
Disney Musicals in Schools (DMIS) in
the Seattle region. Together, our goal
is to provide the training necessary
for teachers to continue a tradition of
theatre education in under-resourced
elementary schools for years to come.
Over the course of a semester, Seattle
Theatre Group Teaching Artists guide
school teachers through the process
of mounting a musical with student
performers. This year, Dunlap, South
Shore, Martin Luther King, and McMicken
Heights Elementary Schools have been
selected to participate in the program.
Schools perform excerpts from their

renditions of Aladdin, The Jungle Book,
and The Lion King in the Student Share
Celebration at The Moore Theatre. The Student Share event is free and open to the
public.
Your support makes it possible to provide this experience to students and faculty.
Performance rights, ShowKit materials, Professional Development, and onsite Teaching
Artist support are provided at no charge. Disney Musicals in Schools empowers schools
to connect students with the arts now and into the future, exposing them to the many
benefits of musical theatre, including the development of self-confidence, collaborative
skills, speaking and reading skills, and creativity.
